Overview

The core design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” When building local agents, integrating the model capabilities of CodeBuddy (copilot.tencent.com) or using its subscription quota usually requires handling authentication, protocol translation, and traffic forwarding manually. The dsh-tap plugin wraps these operations in a local process through a Local Loopback Tap Bridge, serving as a unified Provider Bundle for DeepSeek Harness.

What This Is

dsh-tap is an unofficial plugin package maintained by taikaikaikai-pixel. It integrates the CodeBuddy gateway into DSH, providing a unified entry point for model invocation, tool invocation (web search, image generation), and subscription quota access (TraeWork CN).

Core Features

Model Catalog and Capabilities

When the plugin starts, it dynamically synchronizes the model catalog from the gateway’s /v3/config endpoint. The default model is deepseek-v3. It supports 18+ models, covering DeepSeek, Zhipu GLM, Moonshot Kimi, MiniMax, Tencent Hunyuan, and automatic routing.

  • Multimodal support: 12 models support image input.
  • Reasoning effort: Most models support adjustable reasoningEfforts (reasoning intensity), which can be adjusted in the settings card.

TraeWork CN Subscription Access

Starting with v0.8.3, the plugin includes a built-in TraeWork CN (subscription quota) channel.
- Authentication: Uses a self-managed ECDSA P-256 device key for OAuth device-flow authorization, without relying on official IDE credentials.
- Local gateway: Runs a translation gateway locally (127.0.0.1) that converts the OpenAI protocol to the Trae cloud protocol.
- Model extraction: Extracts the model list from the local TRAE SOLO CN cache database and automatically syncs it into the DSH selector.

Tool Integration

The plugin registers CodeBuddy tools into DSH’s ctx.web and ctx.tools.
- Web search and fetching: Integrates the web_search and web_fetch tools for online queries.
- Image generation: Integrates the image_generate tool for image generation based on the Hunyuan model.

OpenAI-Compatible Upstreams

Supports connecting to OpenAI-compatible registries such as Volcano Engine Ark and Alibaba Cloud Bailian via API key.

Typical Usage

1. Enable the TraeWork CN subscription

Go to the DSH Settings Card → Plugin Configuration → CodeBuddy → TraeWork CN (subscription quota) section.
- Enable the channel.
- Click “Log in” to authorize in the browser.
- The models will automatically appear in the conversation model selector.

2. Configure the image input bridge

Configure the describe-image streaming bridge in ~/.dsh/settings.yaml:

describe-image:
  baseURL: http://127.0.0.1:3901/v2
  model: glm-5v-turbo
  apiKeyEnv: CODEBUDDY_API_KEY
  apiStyle: chat-completions

3. Use an API key

Provide credentials via the environment variable CODEBUDDY_API_KEY, or manage the key manually in the Settings Card.

Notes

  • Unofficial and BYOC: The plugin is an unofficial, community-maintained project, BYOC (bring your own credentials).
  • Security and privacy: The plugin files do not contain keys, and tokens are stored only in the local ~/.dsh/ directory. In OAuth mode, remaining quotas are estimated values.
  • Permission requirements: The plugin must run with the permissions of the current DSH process; it is recommended to review the source code before installation.

Summary

dsh-tap solves the integration problem of directly using CodeBuddy models and tools in DSH, especially by transparently accessing TraeWork CN subscription quotas through a local gateway. For developers who need a rich model list and multimodal capabilities, it is a practical supplemental solution.
