Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture, and the default startup page has basic functionality. This plugin aims to enhance the startup experience by using multi-layered animations and custom wallpapers to address the monotonous interface. It is maintained by KylinQ01 and licensed under the MIT license.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following capabilities:
* Startup Animation and Main Interface Wallpaper: Includes a complete startup flow such as background zoom-in, avatar pop-in, and welcome text fade-in. The main interface wallpaper remains consistent with the startup page background.
* Multi-layered Effects and Mouse Parallax: Supports particle effects such as background aurora, stardust, light points, and shooting stars, as well as parallax and 3D tilting that follow mouse movement.
* Three Quality Levels: Provides three quality levels: “Power Saving”, “Standard”, and “Gorgeous”, with Standard as the default.
* Holiday Easter Eggs: Supports seasonal or holiday effects such as cherry blossom season, snowfall, New Year, and birthdays. They can switch automatically based on the date or be specified manually.
* Custom Images: Supports changing background images and avatars. PNG, JPEG, WebP, and GIF formats are supported, with a maximum size of 12MB per image.
* Real-time Preview: Animations and wallpaper effects can be previewed in real time on the settings page. Configuration changes take effect without restarting.

Installation and Configuration

  1. Clone the repository:

  1. Configure a link: dependency in the profile’s package.json to point to the local directory:

  1. Run the installation command:
    dsh plugin --profile desktop install --offline
  1. Restart the DSH host application.

Notes

  • Windows Path Limitations: If a Windows path contains spaces, do not pass the path using dsh plugin add. You must manually write the path in package.json.
  • Official Desktop Branch: If you use the official DeepSeek desktop version, you must clone the official-desktop branch; otherwise, the startup animation will not take effect.
  • Dark Theme: Under dark theme, wallpapers are hidden to avoid visual conflicts.

Usage

  • Switch Quality Level: Select “Power Saving”, “Standard”, or “Gorgeous” in the startup animation effects card on the settings page.
  • Configure Holidays: Configure holiday easter eggs on the settings page (such as cherry blossom season or New Year).
  • Change Images: On the settings page, click “Select Image” or directly drag an image onto the avatar/background card.
  • Local Preview: Run node check.mjs in the plugin root directory. Once preview/index.html is generated, you can preview the full effect locally.

Value

This plugin adds visual personalization and a sense of ceremony to DSH. At the same time, its three quality level design ensures compatibility across devices with different performance. Configuration files and images are stored locally, making them easy to manage.
