The DSH plugin ecosystem allows extensions to the desktop interface. The default statistics row at the bottom of the chat area has limited functionality, making it difficult to meet the needs for fine-grained cost control and data viewing. The dsh-desktop-statusbar plugin replaces the default statistics row and provides a highly configurable status bar solution.

This is a client-side plugin maintained by raphael-y7. It replaces the original fixed statistics row with a status bar containing 10 optional fields, supports estimating costs using the official peak/off-peak pricing standard, and allows customizing model unit prices, billing currencies, and account balance.

Installation

Install via command line:

dsh plugin --profile desktop add dsh-desktop-statusbar

Both the plugin panel and command line can be used. The default installation source is the npm registry. If network access is restricted, you can switch the installation source to the “Mainland China mirror” within the same dialog, or install directly from a GitHub repository address.

Core Features

  • 10 optional fields: context usage (ring at the start of the bar), peak/off-peak status, rounds & steps, cache hit rate, output speed, average time to first token, runtime, current round cost, total cost, and account balance.
  • Click for details: Clicking any field expands a drill-down view. For example, context usage lets you view the system prompt, tool definitions, and conversation messages; rounds & steps lets you view context compression, skill injection, and tool-call details.
  • Version self-check and update: DSH automatically checks for the latest version at startup. If a new version is found, a reminder appears next to the “Status Bar” navigation item, and a one-click update button is provided on the settings page.
  • Cost estimation: Costs are calculated based on the official peak/off-peak pricing standard. Each invocation is calculated separately according to its occurrence time and the model used.
  • Price library: Supports custom model unit prices, peak/off-peak tiers, and switching the billing currency between CNY or USD.
  • Other features: one-click holiday calendar update, automatic account balance refresh every minute, and a bilingual Chinese/English interface.

Configuration and Usage

Open Settings → Status Bar:

  1. Control display and order: Check a checkbox to show a field; uncheck it to hide the field only; drag the handle on the right to adjust order; click “Restore Default Settings” to reset.
  2. Custom model prices: Enter a model name and click “Add” to create a new entry; click “Modify” to expand the editing area and save; select “Peak/Off-Peak Pricing” when peak/off-peak time periods need to be distinguished.
  3. Switch billing currency: In the upper-right corner of the price editing area, select CNY or USD. When switching, built-in models use the official reference price in the corresponding currency; modified entries are retained.
  4. Holidays: Click “Update Holiday Peak/Off-Peak” to obtain the following year’s holiday schedule.
  5. Balance: Balance information is automatically refreshed every minute.

Notes

  • Data statistics depend on Host: The fastest / slowest first-token times and speeds come from projections added by the host. After upgrading, you must completely exit and restart DSH before statistics begin.
  • Cost calculation conditions: Models lacking a unit price in the price library are not billed. Once a unit price is added, costs are retroactively calculated automatically.
  • Update dependencies: One-click updates rely on the pnpm executable. The desktop version uses the pnpm provided with the host package, while the command-line / web versions use pnpm found on the PATH.
  • Directory detection: The plugin directory location is automatically detected in the following order: the environment variable DSH_STATUS_BAR_PLUGIN_DIR → known installation layouts under ~/.dsh → inference from the tools/ location.
