Introduction

The philosophy behind DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” In the plugin ecosystem, most tools simply expand what AI can do without changing how it works.

CDS mode is different. It tries to turn “one person at work” into “a team at work, with only one person reporting to you.” The only main persona you interact with is “Chen,” who leads 56 personas working in parallel, handing off directly to one another, and ultimately returning the results to you. This is a workflow plugin developed by DRQRTS that codifies multi-agent collaboration constraints and processes into the system.

What This Is

CDS mode (Chen’s DS) is a workflow plugin for DeepSeek Harness. It addresses several common problems in agent development: starting to code before requirements are clarified, failing to verify after fixes, making things more chaotic through repeated edits, conclusions not being persisted to files, and personas overstepping their roles to take over work.

You only need to talk with “Chen.” It will not start immediately. Instead, it first asks clarifying questions, breaks down the work, assigns roles, runs acceptance checks, and finally gives you a clear report.

Core Features

56-Persona Collaboration

The system includes 56 built-in personas, divided into two modes:

  • Main Mode: Includes Chen and 21 sub-personas, grouped as A (Investigation Group), B (Design Group), C (Development Group), D (Testing Group), and E (Other Group).
  • Cybersecurity Mode (C-WEB): Includes a security version of Chen and 35 sub-personas, grouped as A (Intelligence Collection), B (Detection and Analysis), C (Response and Recovery), D (Governance and Compliance), E (Security Architecture and Engineering), F (Offensive and Defensive Operations), G (Security Operations), and I (Real-Time Defense and Counterattack).

Nine Iron Rules

CDS mode behavior is governed by nine rules, with clear consequences for violations. The core rules include:

  • L1: Only Chen may speak to you; other personas are not allowed to output directly.
  • L2: Work must not begin unless requirements have been clarified through a 5-question calibration.
  • L7: Conclusions must be written to files; conclusions between personas are authoritative only when persisted as files.
  • L9: Questions must use structured option cards; free-form prose questions are not allowed.

Six Circuit Breaker Mechanisms

When the process goes out of control, the system stops automatically:

  • CB-1: Five consecutive test loop rounds fail to converge.
  • CB-2: More than 3 critical bugs are introduced in any round.
  • CB-3: Code grows net for 3 consecutive rounds while bugs do not decrease.
  • CB-4: A requirement-level disagreement appears that cannot be resolved using multiple-choice options.
  • CB-5: Budget or time limit is reached.
  • CB-6: The same bug has been “fixed” 3 times but still fails.

Other Features

  • Zero External Dependencies: The required corpus is bundled with the package; no online corpus loading is needed.
  • Structured Questioning: Chen uses multiple-choice option cards (no more than 5 questions) for requirement collection and calibration.
  • Cybersecurity Add-on Workflow: Includes policy gate D-web1, which any action that changes system state must pass through, and privacy veto D-web4, which can directly reject operations involving personal data.
  • Explicit Anti-Task-Taking Rule: If Chen produces content that should have been written to disk by another persona, that output is invalidated.

Installation and Enablement

Before installing, make sure DeepSeek Harness is installed and that you can run dsh web.

Installation Command

Install using the Web profile:

dsh plugin --profile web add https://github.com/DRQRTS/dsh-cds-mode

Enable and Restart

After installation, restart dsh web to load the plugin. After creating a new session, select “CDS mode” or “CDS mode · Companion Channel Edition” from the preset list.

Notes

  • The plugin does not update automatically. To upgrade, you must uninstall it first and then install the new version.
  • The plugin runs with the permissions of the current dsh process. Before installing, review the source code and license.

Typical Usage

  1. Select a preset: When creating a new session, select the “CDS mode” preset card.
  2. Chat: Talk with “Chen.”
  3. Calibrate: Before starting work, Chen performs a 5-question calibration and requirement collection.
  4. Structured questioning: Chen uses multiple-choice option cards instead of prose-based questions.
  5. Execution and verification: Chen assigns tasks, and other personas perform the work. After fixes, verification is done by replaying the original issue.
  6. Net change report: Ask Chen to provide a net change report. If convergence does not occur for 5 consecutive rounds, a circuit breaker is triggered.

Suitable Scenarios and Cautions

This plugin is suitable for scenarios that require strict process control, multi-role collaboration, or security-sensitive operations.

  • Users in mainland China: Installation may be affected by network conditions. Using a compressed archive installation method or configuring a proxy to access GitHub is recommended.
  • Permissions: The installation process involves executing package code. Make sure the source is trustworthy.

Summary

CDS mode constrains multi-agent behavior through nine iron rules and six circuit breaker mechanisms, ensuring rigorous collaboration. It turns “multi-agent collaboration” from a concept into concrete persisted files and a structured workflow.
