In a DSH workflow, maintaining visibility into session state often requires frequent context switching. DSH Notch aims to minimize this context switching by displaying active status and pending tasks in a native window at the edge of the screen.
Plugin Introduction¶
DSH Notch is a macOS plugin designed for DeepSeek Harness, maintained by aa2246740 under the MIT license. It consists of two parts: a Host plugin responsible for synchronizing session state, and a native macOS application responsible for display and interaction. Working together, these two parts allow users to check task progress, answer questions, or view completed results through the Notch at the edge of the screen without entering the DSH interface.
Installation and Activation¶
Before installing, ensure your environment meets the following requirements: macOS 14+, an Apple Silicon chip, and DeepSeek Harness version 0.2.0-rc.2.
1. Install the plugin package¶
Run the following commands in the terminal to install the Host plugin and the client synchronization assistant:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-notch@0.3.4
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-notch-focus@0.1.2
2. Launch the native program¶
After the plugin package is installed, you need to download and launch the native program. The native program version is 0.3.3.
- Download
dsh-notch-0.3.3-macos-arm64.tar.gzfrom GitHub Releases and extract it. - Go to the extracted directory and start the program:
cd dsh-notch-0.3.3-macos-arm64
./dsh-notch --verify-idle-resources
./dsh-notch
3. Environment configuration¶
The native program and the Host plugin must point to the same DSH_HOME directory. The native program depends on OpenBotMotion for robot resources; on first run, ensure the resources are complete.
Core Features¶
The plugin provides status indicators and interaction capabilities at the edge of the screen, helping developers manage DSH sessions efficiently.
Status indicators¶
The Notch window uses colors and numbers to display the current session state:
* Blue number: indicates the number of running sessions.
* Yellow exclamation mark: indicates pending questions or decisions.
* Green number: indicates unread completed results.
* Red number: indicates failed results.
Interaction operations¶
- Direct answer: Clicking a question option on the Notch directly submits the answer; clicking the question title jumps back to DSH to view the full context.
- Elastic stowing: After dragging the Notch and releasing it, it elastically stows to the edge of the screen; drag it out again to restore it.
- Automatic pop-back: In the hidden state, if new completions, errors, or questions awaiting approval appear, it automatically pops back to the normal compact state; the same reminder will not repeatedly pop up due to polling.
- Idle state: After all task results have been read, the Notch displays an idle robot.
Notes¶
- Counting rules: Counts are measured by the user’s main conversation. Nested subagents are included in the main conversation statistics and do not individually increase the blue number or generate completion/failure indicators.
- Logging: Detailed interaction logs are written to
~/.dsh/dsh-notch/presentation.l, which can be used to troubleshoot issues such as overlapping status indicators or abnormal animations. - Resource requirements: Running the plugin requires Apple Silicon chip support, and the native program must share
DSH_HOMEwith the Host plugin.
