Preface

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture that supports extensible features. While developing or using agents, you may sometimes need to perform more complex searches or interactions on the official web interface and then capture the resulting discussion into the workspace. The dsh-chat-bridge plugin provides this kind of connection layer. It does not modify the source code of the official desktop client; instead, it embeds the official web page and works with specific interfaces to enable importing chat records into work sessions.

Plugin Positioning

This is a client plugin designed to integrate the official web chat feature inside DSH. It is maintained by FrostLeafKEE and licensed under the MIT License. It addresses the separation between “web discussions” and “workspace management,” offering one-click conversion and reuse of historical context.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following capabilities:

  • Chat / Work switching: Switch at the top of the main interface; after entering the chat area, you can return to the original work session at any time.
  • Embedded official web page: Loads the official DeepSeek web page inside DSH, supporting login and conversation.
  • Web history sidebar: Displays the list of loaded web sessions, with support for searching, refreshing, and loading more.
  • One-click conversion to work: Imports a selected web session into the workspace, with support for preview and quick mode.
  • Native history context: Preserves question and answer content and source information during import; the input box remains empty by default so you can immediately issue the next task.
  • Independent chat archive: Stores chat archives locally, supporting search, rename, export, and deletion.
  • Manual import: Supports UTF-8 .txt and .md files, as well as the plugin’s own history JSON and archive JSON.

Installation and Enablement

This plugin is compatible with the official DeepSeek Harness Desktop 0.2.0-rc.2.

In Windows PowerShell, use the following command to install it:

$dsh = Join-Path $env:LOCALAPPDATA 'Programs\DeepSeek Harness\resources\runtime\cli\bin\dsh.cmd'
$package = Join-Path $env:USERPROFILE 'Downloads\dsh-chat-bridge-1.0.1.tgz'
& $dsh plugin --profile desktop add $package

After installation, DSH must be restarted. To uninstall it, use the CLI command as well, or run the removal script in the extracted directory on macOS.

Usage Flow

  1. Above the new session, select “Chat Area,” or click “Chat Area” below the sidebar.
  2. Complete login in the embedded official web page. Expand the web sidebar; the “Web Sessions” entry in the DSH sidebar will automatically display the loaded list. Click a list item to open the corresponding session, or use “Load more from web.”
  3. Click “Convert to Work.” A preview dialog appears; select the target workspace and confirm the capture scope and context hints.
  4. After confirmation, the plugin saves the source and creates a work session with historical context. The input box is empty, allowing you to directly submit the next work task.
  5. After checking “Remember target” and enabling “One-click conversion,” clicking “One-click convert to work” next time will automatically complete the import flow.

Limitations and Notes

The plugin has the following limitations in its runtime behavior and data handling:

  • Sidebar refresh and counts: The web sidebar refreshes every 3 seconds and reads loaded titles and links. Counts include only loaded entries. Collapsed groups or unloaded records may be missing. The list is retained only during the current run.
  • Height limits: In version v1.0.1, the sidebar height is limited. The chat area occupies 30% of the window height by default, the web list occupies 15%, and imported history occupies 12%. Content beyond these limits scrolls internally.
  • Data collection scope: Currently, only the currently rendered branch is collected and marked as partial. In long conversations, unrendered messages, other branches, and original attachments are not automatically completed. Web collection is limited to verified front-end versions.
  • Environment conflicts: If the web page is upgraded, in a generating state, contains an unsent draft, or its content has changed, the conversion operation stops and prompts you to handle it.
  • Login state: Initial login must be completed on the official page. The login state is reused as much as possible only during the current application run; after a restart, re-authentication may be required. The plugin does not read or copy login credentials, and the chat page uses an isolated context.
  • Security and privacy: After selecting and importing into a work session, normal capabilities of the target workspace are used. Local archives are not encrypted.
  • Import limits: The plugin does not estimate model context capacity or automatically shorten content. Overly long histories and sensitive content must be reviewed before conversion. Current input limits are 5 MiB for plain text, 64 MiB for full archive files, and 5,000 structured messages. Exceeding these limits results in rejection, without silent truncation.
  • To be confirmed on real devices: Compatibility for small windows, keyboard focus, and macOS layout still needs to be verified on physical devices.
