In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) plugin ecosystem, the forms of desktop interaction are becoming increasingly diverse. In addition to console output, adding a transparent, interactive visual object to the desktop can significantly improve the feedback experience of automated workflows. Blue Hair Maid is a desktop pet plugin for Windows. It exists on the desktop as a transparent window and provides capabilities such as animation display, local AI chat, screen monitoring, and file operations.
This is a free, open-source desktop pet project maintained by Mikolu. It addresses the lack of visual feedback in desktop automation, enabling the desktop “assistant” to interact with users through 106 hand-drawn animations and integrating local large-model capabilities.
Core Capabilities¶
-
Animation Display
Built-in 106 hand-drawn transparent animations (VP9-alpha webm) support actions such as breathing, patrolling, and random gestures. Animation weights and frequency can be configured in the console. -
AI Chat
Supports conversations via Ollama or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. The console provides three modes: Local, Auto (best available), and Online. -
Screen Monitoring
Optional feature. The pet periodically takes screenshots and sends them to a vision model for “roasting.” -
Voice Interaction
Built-in offline speech recognition engine (sherpa-onnx + SenseVoice int8) enables voice input without requiring an internet connection. -
Task Execution
Supports opening applications, files, folders, or URLs, and can initiate screen recording (configurable to save to OBS or other software). -
Offline Operation
The installer includes all required runtimes and models, so the plugin can run offline after installation.
Installation and Enablement¶
In a DSH environment, add the plugin via the plugin management command:
dsh plugin add github:12we21/cute-fat-fish-pet
Usage¶
- Interaction: Click the pet on the desktop to open the chat interface.
- Management: Use the console UI to manage model loading, settings, and logs.
- Configuration: Configure animation weights and frequency in the console to adjust the pet’s behavior patterns.
Notes¶
- Installation Path: Installed by default to
%LOCALAPPDATA%\BlueHairMaid, without requiring administrator privileges. - Data Retention: Internal identifiers (such as
BlueHairMaid) remain unchanged, so user data (memory, configuration, etc.) is preserved when upgrading from older versions without additional steps. - License: MIT.
This plugin is suitable for users who need to run automated tasks in a Windows desktop environment and want visual feedback. For more details, refer to the project directory page or GitHub repository.
