DeepSeek Harness (dsh) plugin. The plugin integrates a literature library, a PDF reader, and AI companion reading to address issues such as fragmented literature management, difficulty jumping to source text, and garbled formula translations.

Core Capabilities

  • Three-column workspace: literature library on the left, PDF reader in the center, and native chat on the right. After installation, the official interface remains unchanged; the sidebar only gains one extra toggle.
  • Companion reading with page numbers: answers include page numbers; click a page number to jump to and highlight the source text; supports asking questions directly from selected text.
  • Coach-style guided reading: use preset configurations to create step-by-step plans, provide section-by-section guidance, and generate and grade quizzes; progress accumulates across sessions.
  • One-click Chinese version: switch in place between the original text and pure Chinese; supports side-by-side Chinese-English comparison or synchronized scrolling in a split screen; one-click export of translated PDF.
  • Selected-text translation: select text and click “Translate” to show a pure translated bubble; when formulas are involved, garbled output is replaced with LaTeX.
  • Literature management: supports renaming topics/papers; deletion moves items to a recycle bin and can be restored. Sessions in progress or literature being translated will be rejected from processing.

Installation and Enablement

Desktop Installation:
1. Download the DeepSeek official desktop app and log in.
2. Sidebar → Plugins → Add Plugin, enter @ggboy123/dsh-paper-reader@latest, then turn on the “Enable” switch and restart after installation.
3. Click “📚 Paper Companion Reading” at the bottom of the sidebar to enter.

Command-line Installation:

Usage Flow

  1. Add to library: click “＋ New Topic” in the literature library and upload a PDF.
  2. Read and ask questions: ask directly (answers include page numbers), or select text and ask in a popup; click a page number in the answer to jump back to the PDF.
  3. Chinese-English comparison: click “CN” in the top bar for one-click switching; supports exporting plain text or a bilingual comparison PDF.
  4. Manage: hover over a row and click ✎ to rename or 🗑 to delete.

Notes

  • Re-enable after upgrade: the plugin switch reverts to the disabled state; manually turn it on and restart.
  • Always include @latest when installing: omitting the version tag will not work for already installed plugins.
  • Security policy: deletion moves items to the recycle bin and processes all artifacts; path traversal is always rejected; failures automatically roll back.
