Introduction¶
The core design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness is “everything is a plugin.” If you want to display a custom video or GIF when starting the application, and have it automatically fade out to reveal the main interface after playback, the deepseek-splash-animation plugin can meet this need. This plugin is maintained by KDDKBD and is released under the MIT license.
Installation¶
Install via the command line:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:KDDKBD/DeepSeek-splash-animation
After installation, DeepSeek Harness must be restarted. The plugin includes a default video, so it can be used directly after restarting. You can also manually replace the video or clear the settings on the settings page.
Features and Configuration¶
Core Features¶
The plugin mainly provides the following capabilities:
* Plays custom videos or images (supports formats such as mp4, webm, gif, webp).
* Plays the default video bundled with the plugin.
* Fades out 0.3 seconds after playback ends, revealing the DSH interface.
* Supports a skip button as well as keyboard exit (ESC, spacebar, Enter).
* Supports configuring mute, volume, and fit mode (cover/contain/fill).
Interface Operations¶
In Settings → Plugins → Splash Animation:
* Click “Select file…” to choose a video or image from your local machine.
* Paste a path directly into the input box.
* Click “Clear” to completely disable the splash animation feature.
Configuration File¶
If you need finer control, you can override the configuration in cordis.patch.yml under the profile directory:
- id: dsh-splash-animation
config:
fit: contain # 填充方式:cover(铺满裁切), contain(完整显示留黑边), fill(拉伸填满)
muted: false # 是否静音(默认静音,因 Chromium 会拦截自动播放声音)
fadeOutMs: 600 # 渐隐时长(毫秒)
skip: click # 退出方式:button(按钮), click(点击任意处), auto(自动), never(不可退出)
Behavior and Notes¶
Startup Process¶
A brief black screen during startup is normal. The plugin covers the content starting from the first frame of the page, and its own visual content is only shown after it has been fully mounted, so the native DSH interface cannot be seen during the startup process.
Audio Strategy¶
Muted by default. Chromium requires users to interact with the page before allowing audio playback, and the splash animation occurs before user interaction. If you need sound, set muted: false in the configuration.
Common Issues¶
- Selected video but it does not play: Check whether the settings page shows “Play on next startup” and whether the path in the configuration file is correct.
- Format compatibility: The plugin uses HTML5
<video>and<img>tags. We recommend usingwebm(VP9) ormp4(H.264) for the best compatibility. Whethermovandmkvcan play depends on their internal codecs (ProRes/DNxHD may not be decodable).
