Preface¶
The DeepSeek Harness (DSH) web client uses a plugin architecture. When developing agents, managing MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers and local skill files often requires directly editing JSON configuration or using the command line. dsh-toolbox-ui provides a floating panel that lets you manage these configurations during an active conversation, without restarting or interrupting the session.
Plugin Overview¶
dsh-toolbox-ui is a client plugin maintained by Imzl-zl and licensed under the MIT license. It integrates the MCP management panel and the skill management panel into a single interface, and supports bidirectional operations between global and project-level configurations.
Core Features¶
MCP Management Pane¶
- Status and Details: View connection status, transport method, connection parameters, and registered tools. Expand a tool entry to view the full input JSON Schema.
- Actions: Supports enabling/disabling, reconnecting, adding, editing, and removing MCP servers. Credential fields are masked by default; click the eye icon to temporarily reveal and copy the actual value.
- Configuration Import: Supports importing configurations from other clients (Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, etc.), and supports moving configurations across workspaces or exporting JSON.
- Scope: Supports both global (web profile) and project-level (
.dsh/mcp.json) scopes, and supports masking global MCP servers.
Skill Management Pane¶
- Scope and Shadowing: View the effective scope of each local skill and any same-name shadowing.
- Actions: Supports enabling/disabling, deleting, reading content, and diagnostics.
- Model Auto-Invocation Toggle: Toggle the
disable-model-invocationstate of a skill with one click, directly modifying theSKILL.mdfile. - File Location: Locate skills by their actual location on disk (not by skill name), and supports installing from the skillhub.cn marketplace (explicit confirmation required).
General Features¶
- Entry Points: Supports a draggable floating button in the bottom-right corner and the “Toolbox” sidebar entry.
- Theme: Follows the DSH theme, and adapts to narrow screens and mobile devices.
- Updates: Checks npm at most once per day, provides update hints, but does not automatically upgrade.
Installation and Activation¶
Install using the official CLI:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-toolbox-ui@^1.7.2
After installation, restart the dsh web service.
Typical Usage¶
- Open the panel: Click the floating button in the bottom-right corner, or the “Toolbox” at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Add an MCP: Click “Add MCP” at the top of the MCP panel and fill in the form, or use “Import MCP” to paste the configuration.
- Manage skills: In the skill panel, click a skill entry to view its status, or click the “Model Auto-Invocation” toggle to modify it.
- Upgrade the plugin: When the panel indicates that a new version is available, you can run:
dsh plugin --profile web update dsh-toolbox-ui
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
This plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process and directly manipulates configuration files.
- Language: The panel language follows DSH settings (General → Language); if no language is selected manually, it defaults to inference from the browser language.
- Hot Updates: When you modify and save project configuration, changes are applied immediately to the active session without restarting Host.
- Connection Persistence: MCP connections do not disconnect when a session ends; they only enter an idle waiting state and can be reused directly in the next session.
- Compatibility: Only DSH version 0.1.5-rc.1 and later are supported.
- Data Isolation: It does not modify other configuration, and uninstalling does not delete existing MCP entries or the project’s
.dsh/mcp.json.
Conclusion¶
For developers who need to frequently adjust MCP servers or manage a large number of local skills, dsh-toolbox-ui provides an intuitive and efficient centralized management entry point.
