DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a modular architecture and allows features to be extended through plugins. The official inference-level selector is fixed to four levels: Max/High/Low/Off. If you prefer a continuously draggable slider like Codex, or want more intuitive visual feedback when switching levels, you can install dsh-codex-effort-slider.

This plugin is maintained by Microqian2th and released under the MIT license. It replaces the inference-level row in the official menu with a Codex-style continuous slider, supports 4 levels, and provides a blue-to-violet gradient and stardust effects for higher levels.

Core Features

  • 4-Level Switching: Supports Max, High, Low, and Off.
  • Visual Effects: The fill color gradients from blue to violet; higher levels activate purple nebula and stardust particle effects.
  • Theme Adaptation: Supports light and dark themes, and the contrast of the numeric text has been validated.
  • Non-Invasive: Locates the DOM based on official semantic attributes (aria-*); it does not register host hooks and does not inject messages.
  • Zero Dependencies: No runtime dependencies; works out of the box after extraction.

Installation and Enablement

Installation

This plugin only supports the DSH Desktop profile (GUI); the desktop profile cannot be installed directly from the command line.

  1. Command-Line Installation (TUI Profile):
dsh plugin --profile tui add github:Microqian2th/dsh-codex-effort-slider
  1. GUI Installation (Desktop Profile):
It is recommended to install it through the built-in plugin panel in DSH Desktop. Find the plugin option in Settings, then add a local directory path or GitHub link. The panel automatically validates the plugin package validity and the dsh.bundle.patch declaration.

Activation and Preview

  • Activation: After installation, you must completely quit and reopen DSH Desktop for the changes to take effect.
  • Preview: If you only want to view the effect without installing the plugin, run node preview/make-preview.mjs in the repository root directory, then open the generated preview/panel.html in a browser to test it.

Notes and Use Cases

  • Use Cases: Developers who prefer continuous slider interactions and want visual feedback in the interface.
  • Fail-Open Mechanism: The plugin anchors to the DOM using official semantic attributes (aria-*). If the official implementation changes these attributes, the plugin will silently fail open without breaking the original structure of the official menu.
  • Dependency on Official Structure: The plugin depends on a specific DOM structure in the official menu. If the official structure changes significantly, the plugin may not work correctly.
  • License: MIT. If you want to publish it to npm, remove "private": true from package.json.
