Foreword

The DeepSeek Harness (DSH) web client natively renders the message status bar, including Date | Time for user messages and Elapsed time · First token · tok/s for Assistant messages. By default, this information is only displayed on mouse hover and can be easily missed while skimming.

The dsh-always-status-bar plugin makes the above status bar always visible by using a scoped CSS override. It reuses DSH’s native rendering logic and position, adds no visible UI, and only addresses the issue of display timing.

  • Always visible: The status bars for user and Assistant messages remain visible both before and after hover.
  • Zero config: No configuration items, no toggles, no storage, and no backend interactions are required; it takes effect immediately after installation.
  • Clean uninstall: Uninstalling fully restores DSH’s native hover-only behavior without leaving any residue.
  • Minimal & safe: It does not scan the DOM, use MutationObserver, or poll, and it does not affect native buttons such as likes and dislikes.

Installation and Enabling

Use the official installation command:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-always-status-bar

After installation, restart dsh web for the change to take effect.

Advanced Installation Notes

If installing from GitHub source (for example, dsh plugin --profile web add github:Bobnemimimmi/dsh-always-status-bar) and using pnpm version ≥ 10, the first add command may be denied due to permission restrictions. In this case, follow the prompt to add the printed allowBuilds key to the profile’s pnpm-workspace.yaml, then rerun the installation command.

Applicable Scenarios and Notes

  • Version verification: This plugin has been verified on the DeepSeek Harness web client package 0.1.0-rc.5.
  • Iteration risk: DSH iterates quickly. If the status bar does not remain visible after an upgrade, check whether the data-time-hover-root anchor and the hiding mechanism in MessageIconActions.module.css are still consistent with the current implementation.
  • Security note: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. It is recommended to review the source code and license before installation.
