The DeepSeek Harness Web interface supports extension through plugins. During long interactions in the interface, a physics-based visual widget can provide intuitive interaction feedback. The dsh-whale-rod-cursor plugin replaces the system cursor with a fishing rod carrying a chibi whale girl, producing physical swinging effects in response to mouse movement and switching poses based on DSH states.
Overview¶
This plugin implements a physics-based elastic cursor widget on the DSH Web interface:
- Physics following: The tip of the fishing rod is pinned to the mouse position, with a chibi whale girl suspended by an elastic rope. When the mouse moves, the whale girl is pulled sharply and flung away, then returns through damped oscillation.
- Interactive color changes: The fishing rod changes color based on the type of hoverable element, providing interactivity cues.
- State feedback: If the swinging amplitude is too large, the whale girl screams; after the action stops, it performs a short skit about “the angler coming up empty again.”
- State switching: It follows internal DSH states (such as running/finished) to switch the whale girl’s pose (idle/busy/done).
- Cursor management: The system cursor is hidden by default to avoid information loss, and can be restored with a shortcut key.
Core Interaction and Behavior¶
Two Cursor Modes¶
The plugin provides two cursor modes:
- Fishing rod as cursor (default): The fishing rod directly acts as the cursor, and the system arrow is hidden.
- Real cursor + attachment: The system cursor semantics are preserved, while the fishing rod is attached as a decorative layer nearby.
Emergency recovery: Press Alt+Esc to switch between the two modes.
Color Hints¶
The fishing rod color changes based on interaction states:
* Deep sea cyan-blue: Default idle state.
* Bright cyan-green: Hovering over an input box or editable area.
* Pale gold: Hovering over a button or link.
* Orange-red: Flashes when the mouse button is pressed.
Physics and Feedback¶
- Swinging and screaming: When the swinging speed or acceleration exceeds a threshold, the whale girl emits bubble speech. The greater the force, the larger the bubble.
- Idle skit: After the mouse stops moving for a period of time, the whale girl automatically plays a line (by default themed around “the angler coming up empty-handed”).
- Pose following: By default, it follows the
runningstate of DSHctx.get('sessions')to switch poses; if the service cannot be read, it falls back automatically based on the swinging state.
Installation and Activation¶
Install it using the DSH command-line tool:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:xingheyewang-1/dsh-whale-rod-cursor
Notes:
1. After installation, the dsh web client must be restarted for the code to take effect.
2. The plugin hides the system cursor by default. If you cannot operate, try pressing Alt+Esc to switch modes.
Usage Instructions¶
The following parameters can be adjusted in the settings page:
* Scale ratio: Adjust the overall size of the fishing rod and widget (0.5–1.2).
* Damping: Adjust the decay speed of the rebound; higher values make the rebound slower.
* Idle line pool: Modify the lines played during idle.
Permissions and Limitations¶
- No external dependencies: The plugin makes no network requests, has no file access, and has no external service dependencies.
- Read-only state: It only reads a read-only snapshot of DSH internal
ctx.get('sessions'). - Compatibility: Based on the MIT license; it must be used with the DeepSeek Harness Web interface.
