Introduction¶
In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) Web environment, when a user-sent message is too long, the message bubble can take up a large amount of vertical space, negatively affecting the reading experience of the conversation. The dsh-message-collapse plugin automatically collapses long messages, keeping the interface tidy while retaining only the necessary interaction controls.
What Is It¶
This is a client-side plugin maintained by masknull that handles the display logic of user messages. When a message exceeds 10 lines (or 12 lines), the plugin automatically collapses it and provides an “Expand All” button for users to view the full content.
Core Features¶
- Automatic collapsing: User messages longer than 10 lines (or 12 lines) are automatically collapsed.
- Expand and collapse: Click “Expand All” to view the full content, and the button changes to “Collapse”; click “Collapse” to restore the collapsed state.
- Short message handling: Short messages (≤10 lines) do not display a button, consistent with the default behavior.
- Development support: Supports HMR hot reload.
Installation and Enablement¶
- Run the following command to install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:masknull/dsh-message-collapse
- After installation, restart DSH for the changes to take effect.
Typical Usage¶
- Send a long message to the assistant, and an “Expand All” button will appear in the bottom-right corner of the message bubble.
- Click “Expand All” → the full content is displayed and the button changes to “Collapse”.
- Click “Collapse” → restores the collapsed state.
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- System requirements: Requires DeepSeek DSH 0.1.7+.
- Dependencies: Depends on
@deepseek-ai/dsh-client-ui-primitivesand@deepseek-ai/dsh-client-ui-slots. - Style retention: Preserves the default product bubble styles and action buttons.

Summary¶
The plugin resolves the cramped interface issue by collapsing long messages and keeps the conversation tidy. Its installation process is simple and requires no additional configuration.
