Introduction

DSH supports extending functionality through plugins. During development or use, you may sometimes need to record ideas or to-do items on the fly. Switching to an external editor and back can interrupt your workflow. The dsh-draft plugin is designed to solve this problem by providing a Markdown draft board that requires no context switching.

Plugin Positioning

This is a Markdown-based draft board plugin. It provides real-time preview and local file persistence, suitable for scenarios that require quick notes and management of local drafts.

Core Features

  • Real-time preview: Markdown is rendered immediately as you type.
  • Local persistence: Content is automatically saved to $DSH_HOME/draft.md (default path is ~/.dsh/draft.md). Reloads or process restarts will not cause content loss.
  • Formatting shortcuts: Supports rapid keyboard-based text formatting.
    • Mod-B / Ctrl-B: Toggle bold
    • Mod-I / Ctrl-I: Toggle italic
    • Mod-L / Ctrl-L: Toggle task list checkbox

Installation and Enablement

This plugin depends on dsh 0.1.5-rc.1 or later.

  1. Run the following command to install the plugin:
dsh plugin --profile <profile> add dsh-draft

Replace <profile> with your profile configuration name (the default Web profile is web).

  1. After installation, restart the Web UI or refresh the page to enable it.

Typical Usage

  1. Open the right sidebar.
  2. Click the + icon in the sidebar tab bar, and select Draft.
  3. Start typing; the rendered result appears immediately on the right.
  4. Use keyboard shortcuts to adjust formatting:
    - Press Ctrl/Cmd+B on text to make it bold.
    - Press Ctrl/Cmd+I to make it italic.
    - Press Ctrl/Cmd+L on a list line to toggle the task checkbox state (unchecked ⇄ checked; normal lines become task lines).
    - Continue typing in nested lists using 4 spaces for indentation.

Notes

  • Version requirements: dsh >= 0.1.5-rc.1, Node.js >= 18, and React >= 18.0.0 are required.
  • Development approach: The code for this project was developed end-to-end by dsh agents without direct manual editing.
  • Build approach: The npm package includes prebuilt browser bundles, so local builds are not required.
  • Ecosystem note: This plugin is listed in the community catalog (Skillhub) and has no official affiliation with DeepSeek or High-Flyer.

Summary

dsh-draft provides lightweight Markdown note-taking capabilities through sidebar integration. With local file persistence, real-time preview, and keyboard shortcuts, it can meet basic draft recording needs.
