Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture, allowing developers to extend client functionality. dsh-btw is one of the custom plugin collections maintained by jasonjiang9527. It aims to address disorganized context management in the conversation flow, temporary questions polluting the main session, and unintuitive advanced configuration options. It provides quoted questions, ephemeral session isolation, logical context splitting, and visual Provider configuration.
Feature Overview¶
- Quoted Questions: Converts selected historical content into a quote block inserted into the current input box.
- btw ephemeral session: Forks a one-off session from a selected message and archives it automatically when you leave.
- Automatic archiving: Automatically hidden from the sidebar when you leave an ephemeral session.
- New context: Logically splits the context; history is retained but no longer sent to the model.
- Provider advanced configuration: Visualizes hidden advanced fields on the Settings page.
Installation and Activation¶
This plugin depends on the DSH client; compatibility with older versions is no longer supported.
Installation command:
dsh plugin --profile web add git+https://github.com/jasonjiang9527/dsh-plugins.git
Activation requirements:
After installation or modifying the source code, you must restart dsh web for changes to take effect. After installation, you can use dsh --profile web --dump-config to confirm that the composition tree includes dsh-btw.
Quoted Questions and btw Ephemeral Sessions¶
Select any content in the conversation history section; an action bar appears next to the selection.
- Quoted question: After selection, the input box is pre-filled with a quote block (including the source session title and timestamp). The quote block preserves the existing draft; edit and append before sending. Quoted text is truncated to 2,000 characters by default and can be adjusted in Settings.
- btw ephemeral session: After selection, a one-off temporary session starts, named
🔍 btw · <source title>. The input box is pre-filled with a btw quote block, so you can ask directly. You can configure whether it is automatically archived when you leave the session.
New Context¶
Click the “⧉ New context” button in the input toolbar, or type /newcontext.
This operation performs a logical context split: prior history is no longer sent to the model, but the full session record is retained. You can perform splits repeatedly, which is equivalent to keeping only the latest segment. The split point is written to the session log, so it remains valid after restarts or session restoration.
Provider Advanced Configuration¶
Go to “Settings -> Models”. Below each provider card, expand the “Advanced configuration (dsh-btw)” collapsible panel.
This panel visualizes hidden fields from settings.yaml, including:
* Model-level configuration: such as input type input, reasoning budget reasoningEfforts, and compatibility options compat.
* Endpoints and protocols: timeout settings, transport method, and cache policies.
* Model overrides: configuration overrides by model ID.
Notes¶
- Trigger area: The floating action bar triggers only on selections in the conversation message area; it does not trigger in the input area, Settings panel, etc.
- Version requirement: Requires dsh 0.1.5-rc.2; compatibility with older versions is no longer supported.
- Automatic archiving: When leaving a btw session, you can configure in Settings whether to automatically archive it.
Conclusion¶
dsh-btw extends DSH’s session management capabilities through the plugin mechanism. It is suitable for users who frequently need context isolation, temporary Q&A, or fine-grained Provider configuration adjustments. For more details, refer to the GitHub repository: jasonjiang9527/dsh-plugins.
