Introduction

In the development workflow of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), framework and third-party library APIs update frequently, and models often rely on training data to generate outdated or incorrect code, known as “hallucinated APIs.” The dsh-livedocs plugin aims to solve this problem by injecting version-specific official documentation context before the agent writes code, ensuring the code is based on the latest, verifiable information.

The plugin is maintained by sogoodayo and is open-sourced under the MIT license.

Installation and Prerequisites

Installation requires using the DSH Web Profile contract.

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-livedocs

Prerequisites are as follows:
* DSH version: >=0.1.5-rc.1 <0.3.0
* Node.js version: >=18
* Dependency: @deepseek-ai/dsh-tools

Core Features

The plugin mainly addresses the authoritativeness of documentation sources and version consistency.

  1. Version Locking and Documentation Sources: Prioritizes reading llms.txt, with GitHub tag documentation as a fallback. Supports configuring the Context7 cloud index (optional).
  2. Zero Configuration and Automatic Triggering: After installation, embedded skills are automatically registered, and the model automatically invokes them when handling third-party library tasks.
  3. Controllable Context: Supports token budget control and local offline caching.

Typical Usage

The plugin provides three usage methods, ordered by level of transparency:

  1. Embedded Skill (Enabled by Default)
    The plugin registers the livedocs skill in the host skill registry. A resident routing description of about 30 tokens remains in the model catalog; once a task involves a third-party library (writing code, fixing bugs), the model automatically loads the full usage rules and queries documentation first according to the rules. This can be disabled in the settings card.

  2. Slash Command
    Type / in the input box to trigger it, for example:

/livedocs react hooks
/livedocs next routing

The results are rendered directly in the session and do not consume model tokens.

  1. Global Automatic Rules
    Run the following command to inject the rules into ~/.dsh/AGENTS.md, making them globally effective:
用 docs_setup 装一下全局规则(scope 传 global)

Tool Description

The plugin provides four core tools:

  • docs_resolve: Maps library names to documentation sources (llms.txt, GitHub repositories, etc.).
  • docs_query: Retrieves version-specific documentation fragments, searches by topic, and supports 7-day local caching.
  • docs_cache: Cache statistics and cleanup.
  • docs_setup: Idempotently writes usage rules to AGENTS.md (supports scope: project or scope: global).

Notes

  1. The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Please check the source code and license before installing.
  2. Supported scopes are project-level and global-level.
  3. Depends on @deepseek-ai/dsh-tools.

Summary

dsh-livedocs provides reliable official documentation context for DeepSeek Harness through version locking and multiple documentation source fallback strategies. Combined with embedded skills and automatic rules, it can effectively reduce model misuse of framework APIs.
