Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture, allowing functionality to be extended on the client side. In agent development or code-processing scenarios, developers often need to frequently view file structures, Git changes, or code diffs. The dsh-flyout-sidebar plugin addresses the need to inspect files and code within the conversation flow by providing a sidebar that overlays the entire session area, along with independently pop-outable tabs.

What Is This

This is a DSH client plugin that provides a pop-out sidebar. It is maintained by oxlyn and licensed under the MIT License. Its core value lies in integrating the file tree, Git change list, and code preview into a draggable, pop-out panel while ensuring real-time synchronization with the main session area.

Installation and Enablement

Install the plugin using the following command:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-flyout-sidebar

After installation, restart dsh web and perform a hard refresh (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+R) in the browser for the icons and panel to take effect. You can verify that the configuration layer is loaded correctly using the following command:

dsh --profile web --dump-config | grep dsh-flyout-sidebar

Core Features

  1. Dual-view mode: The panel defaults to file tree view and supports one-click switching to Git changes view. The Git change list follows automatically, displaying change types (M/A/D/R/U) and line-count statistics, with hover support for viewing staging status.
  2. Large-area preview: The preview area covers the entire session area on the left, providing sufficient reading width. It supports soft wrapping for code, scroll-wheel zoom for images, and colorized unified diffs.
  3. Independent pop-out: A button in the top-left corner of the panel allows the sidebar to be popped out into an independent browser tab with one click. This tab can be dragged to another monitor and stays synchronized with the main panel in real time via localStorage for session and theme.
  4. System integration: The preview bar supports opening the current file in the system default editor or IDE.

Usage Examples

After installation and restart, verify the plugin functionality:
1. Click the refresh button to force-fetch the latest state of the Git change list.
2. Click an item in the file list to view the colorized unified diff.
3. Click the pop-out icon in the top-left corner of the panel to verify that the independent tab has correctly synchronized the current session and theme.

Notes

  • The workspace must be a Git repository; otherwise, the Git changes view will display an error message (the file tree view is not affected).
  • The code preview feature relies on the browser’s native find functionality.
  • Local development builds require installing devDependencies.
  • The pnpm supply-chain policy for DSH profiles may delay the installation of just-released versions, requiring some waiting time before updates become available.
