DeepSeek Harness (DSH) allows users to add custom providers (such as OpenAI-compatible gateways or self-hosted services). However, in the native experience, the list that appears when clicking “Get Available Models” has no search box, the model menu next to the input field flattens models from all routes into one long column, and the reasoning strength setting is hidden in a secondary panel. The dsh-model-search plugin addresses these pain points by adding search, two-level selection, and a draggable reasoning strength energy bar.
Feature Overview¶
The plugin mainly includes the following features:
- Two-Level Selection: When opening the model menu, the left column displays routes (such as Official or Relay), and the right column displays the models for that route. Models are grouped by family (DeepSeek/GPT/Claude, etc.). When there are fewer than 8 models, the plugin does not intervene and keeps the interface as-is.
- Search Functionality: A search box is provided at the top of the model menu and in the “Get Available Models” dialog, supporting real-time filtering. Search supports fuzzy matching; if no exact result can be located, it automatically falls back to subsequence fuzzy matching.
- Reasoning Strength Energy Bar: A Codex-style energy bar is provided at the bottom of the model menu, supporting adjustment by dragging or clicking. The reasoning strength levels are read from the host rather than guessed, ensuring accuracy.
Installation and Enablement¶
Install it using the official DSH command; no build step is required:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:Xstone1129/dsh-model-search
After installation is complete, refresh the page or restart dsh web to take effect.
Usage¶
- Selecting a Model: Click the model name next to the input field, select a route in the left column, and select a model in the right column.
- Adjusting Reasoning Strength: At the bottom of the model menu, drag or click the energy bar to adjust it.
- Searching Models: Go to “Settings” → “Models” → edit a custom provider → “Get Available Models”, and use the search box in the dialog to filter.
Technical Notes¶
- Pure Client-Side: The plugin does not write configuration, start routing, or read credentials. It automatically restores to the original state after uninstallation and does not affect existing host data.
- Smart Intervention: It intervenes only when there are many models; when there are fewer than 8, it keeps the interface as-is to avoid unnecessary disruption.
- Compatibility: Works with the DSH Web UI (
dsh web) and supports desktop and mobile browsers.
