The core design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” For developers engaged in system-level verification, waveform viewing is a high-frequency requirement. Existing terminal waveform cards offer limited functionality, making it difficult to satisfy complex interactive analysis. The dsh-svw-waveform plugin registers svw_wave_render and implements native integration with SVW on the Web side.

Plugin Overview

This plugin is a DSH client component maintained by svcomplex-dev. Its core role is to provide native SVW waveform rendering capabilities within the DSH Web interface. The model only needs to provide a VCD or FST file path, precise time range, and hierarchical signal names to obtain an interactive waveform view in the browser.

Core Features

  • Native Rendering: Directly invokes the SVW engine for waveform drawing, rather than simple text mapping.
  • Interactive Viewer: Supports zooming, panning, marking, radix selection, edge navigation, and Delta-cycle marking in the Web UI.
  • Signal Support: Supports 1 to 12 hierarchical signal names.
  • File Formats: Supports VCD or FST paths.

Installation and Enablement

The plugin is distributed as an npm package and becomes effective after being installed into DSH’s Web configuration file:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-svw-waveform
dsh --profile web --dump-config
dsh --profile web

During installation, the npm package automatically selects the prebuilt binary for the corresponding platform (Linux x64 or macOS arm64). The plugin is not compiled on consumer machines, so no build scripts are required.

Usage

Using the plugin typically involves two steps.

First, obtain the exact signal names. This can be done via the agent command:

svw agent design.vcd signals reset 20

After obtaining the signal list, the model can call the registered tool in its response or directly specify waveform parameters in the conversation. A typical invocation parameter is as follows:

{
  "waveform": "design.vcd",
  "start": 100,
  "end": 160,
  "hier": ["top.clk", "top.reset_n"],
  "width": 120,
  "height": 24
}

Environment and Considerations

  • DSH Version: Currently, this plugin only supports @deepseek-ai/dsh 0.1.x release-candidate series versions.
  • Custom Path: If you need to use an independently installed SVW binary, set the environment variable SVW_BIN to an absolute path.
  • macOS Environment: On macOS, if the npm package is not found, the system will attempt to accept a Homebrew-installed SVW as a fallback.
  • Permissions and Provenance: Because the plugin runs under DSH process permissions, review the source code and license before installation.

Summary

dsh-svw-waveform complements DeepSeek Harness’s waveform analysis capabilities from the terminal to the Web side. It encapsulates the complex SVW engine within a plugin, enabling agents to process VCD/FST data directly.
