Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin architecture and aims to extend its functionality through external components. In a Web Session, developers often need to switch to an external editor to view or modify code. The dsh-file-manager plugin adds a File view to conversation.view in the Web Session and integrates the Monaco editor, providing capabilities such as a workspace file tree, text viewing and editing, and syntax highlighting for the web environment. It is strictly restricted to run within the authoritative working directory of the current Session.
dsh-file-manager¶
dsh-file-manager is a DeepSeek Harness Web plugin maintained by starstorm-ai. It provides a file management and editing view for Web Sessions through the Monaco editor. It does not modify DSH source code or replace the provider, and can be used after being installed into any DSH-compatible Web Profile.
Core Features¶
-
File Browsing and Management
- The file tree loads layer by layer, prioritizes directories, and supports keyboard navigation.
- Compact file bar and trace filter bar, with support for switching between multiple file tabs.
- Each tab independently preserves unsaved content, cursor position, selection, and scroll position.
-
Code Editing and Highlighting
- Supports syntax highlighting for multiple languages: TypeScript/JavaScript, JSON, HTML, CSS, Markdown, YAML, Shell, Python, Go, Rust, Java, C/C++.
- Monaco styles and workers are inlined at build time; no CDN access is made at runtime, ensuring fast loading.
-
Safety and Conflict Handling
- All browsing and editing are strictly restricted to the authoritative
cwdof the current Session. - Saving uses a read version token and atomic
replaceIfVersionto prevent silently overwriting files that have already been modified by an Agent, Git, or an external editor. - Stable error codes and UI states are provided for binary files, invalid UTF-8, size limits, permissions, paths, and version conflicts.
- All browsing and editing are strictly restricted to the authoritative
Installation and Activation¶
Before installing, ensure your environment meets the following requirements:
* Node.js ^22.19.0 or >=24.0.0
* pnpm 11.7.0
Install the plugin via the command line:
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-file-manager
After a successful installation, switch to the File view in the Web Session to use it.
Typical Usage¶
After the plugin is installed, developers can directly view and edit local files in DSH Web.
- Generate an installable
.tgzpackage in the terminal (for validation or offline installation):
pnpm pack
- Install using the generated package (make sure any running Web process has been stopped):
dsh plugin --profile web add .\dsh-file-manager-0.1.0.tgz
- Switch to the
Fileview in the Web Session, browse the file tree, and edit code.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Use Cases: Suitable for scenarios where you need to directly view code, edit code snippets, or perform basic file management in the DeepSeek Harness Web environment.
- Version Limitations: V1 does not yet include creating, deleting, renaming, binary previews, global search, or workspace-level LSP.
- Permissions and Security: All operations are strictly limited to the authoritative cwd of the current Session to avoid affecting other directories on the system.
- Update Reminder: If installed using
pnpm dev:install, you must restart the Web process after running the installation command for the new content to appear.
Summary¶
dsh-file-manager provides a secure file editing experience while maintaining performance by using inlined Monaco resources and an atomic saving mechanism. It is suitable for integration into DSH workflows. For more details, refer to the GitHub repository or the SkillHub directory.
