Introduction

DSH’s philosophy is “everything is a plugin.” For scenarios where you need real-time weather during conversations or development, manually switching browser tabs is inefficient. As an online tool plugin, dsh-weather is integrated directly into the top bar of DSH Web sessions and provides current weather, real-time time, and forecasts.

What It Is

The plugin is named qianluo-ly/dsh-weather and is maintained by QianLuo-Ly. It addresses the need to view weather directly within a conversation window, without requiring an additional API Key, and all data is processed entirely in the browser.

Core Features

  • Session top bar integration: Persists in the top action row of the session, displaying the weather icon, temperature, weather condition, and real-time date and time (updated every minute).
  • Data source: Uses Open-Meteo, which is free and requires no API Key; the browser connects directly.
  • Location mechanism: Prioritizes browser location services (GPS/Wi-Fi), and falls back to IP-based location if location fails or is denied.
  • Privacy protection: Does not collect or upload any personal data, and configurations are stored locally only.
  • Multi-city management: Supports favoriting and switching between cities, up to 8.
  • Practical features: Includes severe weather alerts (classified by measured intensity) and a daily weather briefing (pushed in the morning and evening).

Install and Enable

Before using it, ensure that your DSH Web version is 0.1.0-rc.6 or later.

dsh plugin --profile web add https://github.com/QianLuo-Ly/dsh-weather

The plugin takes effect after restarting (or refreshing as prompted) dsh web.

Typical Usage

  1. Open the web version of DeepSeek Harness and enter any conversation.
  2. You can see the weather chip in the top action row; click it to expand details and view hourly and daily forecasts.
  3. To switch cities, go to ⚙ Settings → Weather, change the location method to Manual, then search a city or enter longitude and latitude.
  4. To switch units, change the unit to °F in ⚙ Settings → Weather.

Notes

  • In automatic location mode, the first location resolution sends an IP-based location request concurrently (in parallel with browser location). To completely avoid IP requests, change the location method to manual.
  • Apart from Open-Meteo and its IP service, no requests are sent to any third party.
  • Location accuracy is approximately 100 m and is saved after rounding.
