The archive mechanism in DeepSeek Harness (DSH) filters sessions out of the main list, and the official system does not provide an entry point for unarchiving. The dsh-archive-browser plugin fills this gap, allowing you to browse archived sessions, inspect their impact, restore them to the sidebar, import them into the current conversation, or fork a new session.

Features

  • Sidebar entry: An “Archived” button appears at the bottom of the sidebar to open the archive panel.
  • View content: The panel renders conversation transcripts, colored by role (you: blue, assistant: green, tool: gray).
  • Impact Check: In read-only mode, view the files modified, commands executed, and sessions derived from the conversation.
  • Restore to Sidebar: Remove an archived session from the archived set and make it visible again in the left-hand list, without refreshing the page.
  • Import into Current Conversation: Organize the archived content into a summary and write it into the current input box.
  • Fork and Continue: Fork a new active session from an archived session.
  • Lightweight loading: By default, the panel loads only the read-only projection cache (title, first message, timestamp) and performs a single file-status check; it does not decompress the transcript contents.
  • Sorting: Supports sorting by recent activity, archive order, or title, and the chosen order is remembered.

Installation and Activation

Official CLI

dsh plugin --profile desktop add dsh-archive-browser

Note: This plugin has not yet been published to npm, so the command above may not work directly at the moment.

Manual Installation

  1. Download and extract the plugin ZIP package.
  2. Place the top-level directory into <DSH_HOME>\profiles\desktop\node_modules\dsh-archive-browser\.
  3. Append the plugin mount declaration to that profile’s cordis.patch.yml:
- insert:
    - id: archive-browser
      name: 'dsh-archive-browser'
  1. Restart DSH. An “Archived” button will appear at the bottom of the sidebar.

Typical Usage

  1. Click the “Archived” button at the bottom of the sidebar to open the panel.
  2. Select a session in the list and click “Restore to Sidebar” to put it back into the main list.
  3. Click “Fork and Continue” to create a new session from that archived session.
  4. Click “Impact Check” to view which files were modified or which commands were executed by that session.

Notes

  • Fork limitation: Forking a new session requires the conversation to contain a completed assistant turn.
  • Import limitation: “Import into Current Conversation” is a best-effort operation; in the worst case, it degrades to copying to the clipboard.
  • Dependency management: The plugin does not automatically uninstall dependencies that have already been installed. The panel only lists dependencies; cleanup must be handled manually.
  • Permission protection: Host routes are protected by DSH token/origin guards; cross-origin access will be rejected.
  • Restart requirement: After the initial installation, DSH must be restarted for Host routes to load properly.

Summary

This plugin extends DSH’s archive management capabilities through the sidebar, providing lightweight list browsing, read-only impact analysis, and session restore and fork functionality. It is suitable for scenarios where you need to review past conversations, analyze agent behavior, or continue development from historical records.
