Introduction

The plugin ecosystem of DeepSeek Harness aims to improve development and interaction efficiency by extending functionality. During use, frequently switching views, managing sessions, switching models, or changing permissions often requires multiple menu clicks and longer operation paths. dsh-plugin-cmdk provides a global shortcut entry point that consolidates these actions into a fuzzy-searchable command palette, reducing mouse interactions and improving the continuity of workflows.

Plugin Overview

dsh-plugin-cmdk is an official command palette plugin for DeepSeek Harness. It invokes an overlay using ⌘K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) and uses fuzzy search to quickly locate and execute features. The plugin is maintained by user ivanearisty and follows the MIT license.

The plugin builds its catalog by reading Harness real-time services, ensuring that displayed session lists, model options, and settings pages remain synchronized with the current state. It runs entirely locally in the browser and does not involve network requests or telemetry data.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following capabilities:

  1. Session Management

    • New chat (supports grouping by workspace).
    • Jump to a specified session (displays running status and session age).
    • Rename the current chat.
  2. Session Control

    • Switch models and reasoning difficulty (if supported by the model).
    • Modify permission settings.
    • Run slash commands.
  3. Views and Appearance

    • Jump to any tab currently displayed in the conversation.
    • Switch themes, languages, and sidebar settings.
  4. Settings and Search

    • Quickly open settings pages.
    • Full-text search (requires the dsh-session-search plugin).

Installation and Activation

The plugin has not yet been published to npm and must be installed directly from GitHub.

dsh plugin --profile web add github:ivanearisty/dsh-plugin-cmdk

After installation, refreshing the page activates it (client-side plugin).

Usage

After opening the command palette, the following shortcut operations are supported:

Shortcut Function
⌘K / Ctrl+K Open the command palette
⌘⇧P / ⌘/ Open the command palette (VS Code / Firefox security alias)
↑ ↓ or Ctrl+N / Ctrl+P Move selection
↵ Execute selected action or open subsection
⌫ (when query is empty) Go back to previous level
Esc Close the palette

Technical Details and Limitations

  • Performance and Dependencies: The command palette UI is handwritten with native React, without relying on heavy libraries such as cmdk or kbar; its size is approximately 30 kB (minified) or 9 kB (Gzip).
  • Data Security: It only reads and drives in-page services in Harness (sessions, workspaces, themes, etc.), makes no network calls, and does not send telemetry data.
  • Catalog Rebuilding: Each time the palette is opened, the catalog is rebuilt from Harness real-time services, so newly added views, settings pages, or slash commands appear automatically.
  • Shortcut Limitations: The shortcut combinations (⌘K, ⌘⇧P, ⌘/) are fixed in the current version and custom re-binding is not yet supported.
  • Browser Compatibility: Firefox reserves ⌘⇧P for opening a private window, so this plugin uses ⌘K as the primary key and ⌘/ as a general fallback key.

Configuration

The plugin registers the dsh-plugin-cmdk configuration item in settings.yaml. By default, alias shortcuts remain bound:

dsh-plugin-cmdk:
  aliasChords: true # 保持 Cmd+Shift+P 和 Cmd+/ 的别名绑定
  extraChords: [] # 可在此处添加额外的 KeyboardEvent.code 组合,例如 ["Shift+KeyP"]

Use Cases

  • Users who need to switch models frequently or view different sessions in the DeepSeek Harness Web client.
  • Developers who want to reduce mouse clicks with keyboard shortcuts.
  • Teams that prioritize privacy and want plugins to run only in the local browser environment.

Summary

dsh-plugin-cmdk is a lightweight, localized command palette tool that solves the cumbersome multi-level menu navigation in DeepSeek Harness through a unified shortcut entry point. For users who prioritize operational efficiency, it is a practical enhancement tool.
