Introduction¶
In the development of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), the default web search function usually requires invoking auxiliary models, consuming model tokens and taking a long time. To optimize this process, the community provides an alternative based on the Tavily Search API. This plugin directly calls the Tavily REST interface, reducing search latency and cost.
What This Is¶
This is a plugin that provides web search capabilities for DeepSeek Harness (dsh). It replaces the default web_search plugin by registering WebSearchProvider (id: ‘tavily’). The plugin maintainer is fan56, and it is open-sourced under the MIT License.
Core Features¶
- Provides web search functionality based on the Tavily Search API.
- Replaces DeepSeek’s default
web_searchplugin, no longer relies on model-assisted calls, and consumes only a small number of credits. - Supports configuring parameters such as search depth, topic, and maximum number of results.
- Allows injecting the API Key via environment variables or a configuration file. The API Key is stored in the credential document managed by the host and is not written to the configuration file.
- Registers
WebSearchProvider(id: ‘tavily’).
Installation and Enablement¶
- Ensure DeepSeek Harness is installed and the version satisfies
>= 0.2.0-rc.2. - Run the installation command:
dsh plugin --profile <name> add @aiwayds/dsh-web-search-tavily
After installation, restart dsh, and the plugin will be registered.
Typical Usage¶
- Configure API Key: Add the following to
~/.dsh/.credentials.yaml:
version: 1
refs:
TAVILY_API_KEY: tvly-xxxxxxxx
- Configure search provider: Set the following in
cordis.patch.yml:
- id: web
config:
searchProvider: tavily
- Uninstall: To remove it, run:
dsh plugin --profile <name> remove @aiwayds/dsh-web-search-tavily
Applicable Scenarios and Notes¶
- This plugin runs with the permissions of the current dsh process. It is recommended to review the source code before installation.
- A valid Tavily API Key is required.
- During installation, it does not automatically claim
web_searchby default. You must manually switch to it in the configuration file. - The license is MIT.
Conclusion¶
This plugin simplifies the web search workflow in DSH by introducing the Tavily API. For more details, see the GitHub repository or the community directory.
