Introduction

The DeepSeek Harness (DSH) plugin dsh-cad-viewer adds 3D model library and CAD viewer capabilities to the Web GUI. An agent can generate models using CadQuery scripts and store them in the library, with online viewing and export supported. Models are stored on the server side, and devices under the same instance share them.

Plugin Overview

This is a DeepSeek Harness client plugin that embeds a 3D model library and CAD viewer in the chat interface. The plugin is maintained by CMoyuer and released under the MIT license.

Core Features

  • 3D model library: Supports folder management, search across the entire library, drag-and-drop moving, renaming, and deletion.
  • CAD viewer: Mounts the upstream three-cad-viewer interface, supporting left/right mouse button rotation, middle button pan, and mouse wheel zoom.
  • 10 export formats: Includes STEP/BREP (exact geometry), STL/3MF/VRML (mesh), and SVG/DXF (drawings).
  • Agent tools: Provides add_3dmodel, build_3dmodel, list_3dmodels, delete_3dmodel, and cadquery_env.
  • Server-side storage: Models are stored as JSON files and shared by all devices under the same DSH instance.
  • CadQuery support: CadQuery scripts can be used for modeling.

Installation

Install using the official command:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-cad-viewer

After installation, modifying the configuration or enabling the plugin requires restarting dsh web.

Usage

1. Adding models to the library

Use the build_3dmodel tool to run a CadQuery script. The script must import cadquery as cq and assign the model to model.

2. Querying the list

Use list_3dmodels to query the model library. It supports the query (substring of title/name/id), folder (folder path), and limit (quantity limit) parameters.

3. Deleting models

Use delete_3dmodel to delete by ID or title. Note that deletion cannot be undone.

4. Environment detection

Use cadquery_env to detect whether the CadQuery environment is ready.

5. Exporting models

In the menu of the model library card or the workbench toolbar, select an export format (such as STEP, STL, SVG, etc.).

Notes and Limitations

  • Server-side operation: The plugin runs with server-side permissions, and dsh web must be restarted after configuration changes.
  • Timeout limits: A single build has a timeout of 60 seconds; the export timeout is controlled by the configuration item cadqueryExportTimeout and defaults to 5 minutes.
  • Environment dependencies: add_3dmodel does not require CadQuery; build_3dmodel and export require a CadQuery environment.
  • Deduplication mechanism: The model deduplication key is “geometry + title”. If the same geometry and title are added again, the original entry is updated.
  • Shared storage: The model library is shared by all devices under the same DSH instance.

Summary

This plugin integrates CAD modeling and viewing capabilities into the DeepSeek Harness workflow. For more details, see Plugin Directory or GitHub Repository.
