Introduction¶
The core architecture of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is based on plugin extension. During long-session coding, agents face hard constraints such as limited context windows, excessive tool output, diluted historical information, and difficulty distinguishing the current working context. Traditional compression mechanisms often process information in a batch when the context window is nearing exhaustion, which can easily lose both low-level details and global structure, causing the model to behave as if it were a different entity before and after compression.
dsh-context-enhancement is a context enhancement plugin specifically designed for DSH. It aims to solve context management issues in a single long session by providing tool summarization, forgetting zone compression, and independent session summary capabilities.
Core Features¶
This plugin provides the following core capabilities:
* Tool Summarization: Condense tool results and reduce context usage.
* Forgetting Zone Compression: Semantically compress older historical content.
* Independent Session Summaries: Generate and maintain session summaries.
* Main-Thread Segmented Compression: Partition conversation content into regions based on lifecycle.
* Independent Checkpoint Bypass: Maintain task state independently in the background.
* Task State Provider: Provide task-state services.
* Context Optimization Page: A Web interface for viewing and managing state.
* Tool Output Reduction: Trim tool output.
Installation and Enablement¶
Prerequisites¶
- Node.js
^22.19.0 || >=24.0.0 - DeepSeek Harness
0.1.2-rc.1 - A usable DSH model provider configured
- Web installation mode
Installation Steps¶
- Run the installation command:
dsh plugin --profile web add 'github:chuxindd/dsh-context-enhancement#v0.1.12'
- Restart the Web profile:
dsh --profile web - Open the Web interface and create a new session.
- Select Context Enhancement in the Agent selector.
Usage and Verification¶
After installation and enablement, the plugin retains the existing modes such as standard, minimal, ptc, and cordis, while registering contextual as the default mode.
The usage process is as follows:
1. Start the Web profile and open or create a session.
2. Select Context Enhancement in the Agent selector.
3. Execute tasks normally; task state and context consolidation will run automatically without manual maintenance.
4. Open the Context Optimization page to view capability status, trigger records, and the current task summary. Click Edit to the right of the summary title to modify the summary content, such as goals, focus items, and To-Dos.
5. Open the “Trajectory” view to inspect detailed events such as compression and trimming.
Notes¶
- Testing Phase: This project is currently in the testing phase, and the code was completed by GPT5.6 Sol.
- Version Compatibility: Compatible only with DeepSeek Harness
0.1.2-rc.1. Re-verification is required after upgrading DSH. - Data Retention: Uninstalling the plugin does not delete task state files or session logs.
- Source Import: Unpublished
src/*subpaths are not imported at runtime.
Summary¶
This plugin uses two parallel mechanisms, Main-Thread Segmented Compression and Independent Checkpoint Bypass, to help DSH users maintain context coherence and persistent task state during long sessions. It is a practical tool for solving memory management issues in long-running coding tasks.
