Introduction¶
The ecosystem design of DSH Desktop (DeepSeek Harness) emphasizes plugin flexibility. For developers, accessing third-party models on OpenRouter (such as stealth/ox-alpha) usually requires manual configuration of the protocol, context parameters, and inference format. Although DSH includes a built-in llm-pi-ai adapter, the official model list does not include Ox Alpha.
This plugin writes configuration directly through the official settings seam, enabling one-click integration. On this basis, it extends a lightweight Model Hub tool suite, supporting custom models, Provider integration, health checks, and model discovery.
Plugin Overview¶
Name: ox-alpha-dsh
Author: change979666
Category: Model Inference
License: MIT
This is a third-party model integration plugin for DSH Desktop. It mainly accomplishes two things: first, it automatically configures the Provider and model definition for Ox Alpha (stealth/ox-alpha, supporting a 1,048,576-token context and tool calling) through the installation command; second, it provides a set of tools (such as model_import, model_status) that allow users to customize model IDs and display names, manage Providers, and perform model health checks and directory searches.
Core Features¶
Based on verified facts, the plugin includes the following capabilities:
- Built-in Ox Alpha definition: Model parameters are cross-checked against the public OpenRouter API to ensure configuration accuracy.
- Custom models and display names: Fully decouples the Model ID used by the API from the display name in the DSH interface.
- Model aliases: Supports setting aliases for models; the system automatically generates sibling routes (such as
openrouter-kimi) for convenient and quick invocation. - Custom Providers: Supports OpenAI-Compatible, OpenAI Responses, and Anthropic Messages protocols, enabling integration with any compatible service.
- Health checks: Provides multi-dimensional check tools for routes, keys, context, vision, reasoning status, and more.
- Model discovery: Can search the public OpenRouter
/modelsdirectory and mark free models. - Idempotent installation and rollback: The installation process does not overwrite existing user configuration; supports precise removal or restoration of specific routes.
- Bilingual Chinese-English output: The tool interface and log output support Chinese and English.
Installation and Enablement¶
Before installation, ensure that DSH Desktop is installed (with the built-in dsh CLI). The plugin depends on the harness’s built-in llm-pi-ai adapter and requires no additional dependencies.
# 安装到指定 profile
dsh plugin --profile <profile> add github:change979666/ox-alpha-dsh
After installation, DSH automatically writes the Ox Alpha definition under the llm-pi-ai.providers.openrouter route.
Configuration and Usage¶
1. Configure the OpenRouter Key¶
The plugin writes to the official OpenRouter Provider configuration path. You need to complete the key setup in DSH Desktop:
- Open DSH Desktop → Settings → Models → find the OpenRouter row.
- Paste the API Key you created on openrouter.ai/keys (the format is usually
sk-or-v1-...). - Save the configuration.
Alternatively, you can provide the key via the environment variable OPENROUTER_API_KEY.
2. Use Ox Alpha¶
After configuring the key, in the session’s model selector, choose Ox Alpha under OpenRouter to start the conversation.
Use the model_status tool to confirm the current state:
✓ openrouter key=OPENROUTER_API_KEY models:
· Ox Alpha <stealth/ox-alpha> ctx=1048576 vision=✓ reasoning=✓ out=131072
3. Import a Custom Model¶
Ask the Agent to invoke the model_import tool with a JSON definition. This allows you to integrate other models besides Ox Alpha.
{
"provider": "openrouter",
"id": "moonshotai/kimi-k2",
"name": "我的 Kimi",
"aliases": ["kimi"],
"reasoning": true,
"tools": true
}
id: The actual Model ID sent to the API.name: The display name in the DSH interface (independent ofidand customizable).aliases: Optional, used to generate sibling route aliases.- Other fields: such as
contextWindow,maxTokens,input(only supportstext/image), etc.
4. Import a Custom Provider¶
If you need to integrate a compatible service other than OpenRouter, you must create a Provider definition. Edit OVERRIDES_DIR at the top of plugin/index.js to point to that directory, then rerun the installation command.
{
"kind": "provider",
"id": "my-gateway",
"displayName": "My Gateway",
"baseUrl": "https://api.example.com/v1",
"api": "openai-completions",
"apiKeyEnv": "MY_GATEWAY_API_KEY"
}
Afterwards, use model_import to point a model to that Provider.
Notes and Limitations¶
- Input modality limitations: The plugin definition only supports
textandimageinputs. Handling of audio/video modalities depends on the underlying harness capabilities and will be rejected in the definition with an explanation. - Privacy and security:
- Ox Alpha is an anonymous model on OpenRouter; its stealth terms state that prompts and completions are retained (currently declared not to be used for training).
- It is strictly prohibited to include sensitive content such as company code,
.env, or database passwords in conversations. - The plugin code never reads, stores, or prints keys in plaintext; it only determines configuration status by reference name.
- Data access:
- Only writes to the
llm-pi-ai.providers.*section ofsettings.yaml. - Does not send project files, conversation content, or environment variables.
- Does not execute irrelevant commands or dynamically download and execute code.
- Only writes to the
- Alias limitations: Aliases are implemented as sibling routes; duplicate model IDs are not allowed within the same route.
Summary¶
ox-alpha-dsh solves the configuration pain point of integrating third-party OpenRouter models into DSH Desktop while providing a complete model management toolchain. For developers who need to uniformly manage multiple models and multiple Providers, this is a practical plugin option.
