Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture, allowing community developers to extend functionality for specific scenarios. hw-cola/dsh-message-enhancer focuses on improving the interaction experience of the Web client, addressing issues such as difficulty locating content in long conversations, cumbersome plan approval workflows, and delayed feedback after sending messages.

Core Features

Message and Plan Index Ruler

Add a vertical index to the Dock above the chat input field for quickly scanning and locating currently loaded user messages and final plans.
* Content filtering: Only user messages and steering messages are displayed, and final plans submitted through exit_plan_mode are identified.
* Status coloring: The tick colors are assigned based on user action outcomes. Confirming execution is shown in green, rejecting with empty feedback is shown in red, submitting feedback or going to chat is shown in warm yellow, and regular messages are shown in gray.
* Interaction preview: Hovering or keyboard focus displays a white rounded preview card with lightweight Markdown rendering support. The type and time are shown at the bottom.
* Scroll positioning: Clicking a tick scrolls the corresponding chat node to the center of the chat area. If earlier history exists, ··· is shown at the top, and each click loads one page.

Plan Approval Card and Historical Plan Cards

Replace the styling and enhance the interaction of the native plan approval feature.
* Card style: The native plan approval position, Markdown content, and approval protocol are preserved; the styling is replaced with a theme-adaptive neutral card.
* Content adjustment: The title bar provides an icon button to copy the full Markdown. Users can enter adjustment content directly at the bottom of the card; if it is non-empty, “Reject” becomes “Submit Feedback.”
* History records: After each “go to chat and explain”, “reject/submit feedback”, or “confirm execution”, the chat timeline retains a historical card for that version of the plan (fixed height, with a bottom gradient blur indicating that the content is not fully displayed). Historical cards can be read in an enlarged window on hover.

Reply Completion Reminder

Notify the user when a model’s full reply completes normally. Suitable for scenarios where the user switches to another window while waiting.
* Settings entry: Settings → General Settings provides three settings: “reply completion sound”, “sound type”, and “Windows system notifications”.
* Trigger mechanism: The reminder triggers when the entire turn completes (completed / max-tokens). It does not trigger when the user clicks “Stop”, the model reports an error, or the plan is rejected.
* Notification method: System notifications use the browser Notification API and also appear when the window is minimized or the user switches to another application. Notifications are marked as muted, and sound is handled uniformly by the reminder sound.

Edit and Resend the Last Message Bubble

Provide editing and regeneration capabilities for the last user message.
* Edit entry: A pencil button appears to the left of the copy button on the last user message bubble.
* Operation flow: After clicking, the bubble becomes an input box in place, and edited content can be sent directly. The model answers again based on the edited text, and the previous reply is not shown.
* Mechanism explanation: Sending uses DSH’s native fork mechanism: a child session is created from the completed turn boundary before that message, and the app automatically switches to it. For single-turn sessions, a new session is created and the message is resent instead. Before sending, the parent session’s current model selection and permission preset are automatically synchronized to the child session.

Installation and Activation

Prerequisites: Your local machine must already have dsh and pnpm installed.

Install the plugin:

dsh plugin --profile web add "git+https://github.com/hw-cola/dsh-message-enhancer.git"

Pin to a specified version (locked by tag):

dsh plugin --profile web add "git+https://github.com/hw-cola/dsh-message-enhancer.git#v1.0.0"

Activation steps:
After installation, restart dsh web (to activate the plugin’s cordis patch layer) and refresh the browser page.

Typical Usage

  1. Quick location: In long conversations, use the vertical index above the chat input field to quickly scan or locate specific plan nodes.
  2. Approval adjustments: Click the copy button in the plan approval card title bar to export Markdown, or directly modify content in the bottom input field of the card and submit.
  3. Receiving reminders: Enable reply completion sound and system notifications in Settings → General Settings to avoid missing model replies.
  4. Correcting input: Click the pencil button on the last user message bubble, fix typos, and resend directly; the model will regenerate based on the new text.

Applicable Scenarios and Notes

  • Applicable scenarios: Developers who need frequent plan approvals, manage long conversations, want reply completion reminders, and need to correct the previous message before regenerating.
  • Compatibility: The plugin was developed and tested on DSH 0.1.1-rc.2.
  • Permission requirements: System notifications require browser permissions; restrictions may apply when the page is not accessed via localhost/https.
  • License: MIT License.

Brief Summary

The plugin enhances the daily usage experience of DSH Web through four dimensions: index ruler, approval optimization, notification reminders, and message resend. All features are implemented based on DSH’s native mechanisms and do not depend on additional backend services.
