Introduction¶
In the usage of DeepSeek Harness (DSH), sharing context through screenshots is a high-frequency need. Native approaches typically rely on the browser’s screen sharing API (getDisplayMedia), with a cumbersome workflow and often limited by system-level selectors (such as only one screen can be selected). The dsh-capture plugin provides a native-app-like overlay experience, enabling users to select a region, add annotations, and directly submit the image to the input box, thereby integrating screenshot operations into the DSH workflow.
Plugin Overview¶
Name: max-null/dsh-capture
Author: Max-Null
License: MIT
Type: Client plugin
This plugin is part of the @max-null/* plugin series and aims to provide efficient screenshot assistance for the SiLing Desktop Experience (SSID). It supports dual-engine operation and can automatically switch the underlying capture logic based on the environment.
Installation¶
Install the plugin via npm:
npm install @max-null/dsh-capture
After installation, the plugin automatically detects whether it is running inside the SiLing Shell (SSID) and selects the corresponding engine logic.
Core Features¶
- Region selection and capture: Select any region on the screen, supporting pixel-level 1:1 capture in multi-monitor environments.
- Annotation tools: Provides rectangle, ellipse, arrow, and text annotations, with eight color options (default red).
- Smart submission: After the screenshot is completed, the image automatically enters the attachment draft area of the current session’s input box, and users can append text before sending.
- Original image preview editing: Click the thumbnail of any image (screenshot or history message) to enter editing mode for whole-image annotations; the image is automatically submitted after editing.
- Operation rollback: Supports stepwise rollback via right-click or the
Esckey (undo annotations → reselect → exit).
Usage¶
Within SiLing Shell (SSID)¶
- Open any DSH session (screenshots are silently discarded if no session is open).
- Trigger methods:
- Click “Screenshot Reference” in the tray menu.
- Use the global hotkey (default
Ctrl+Shift+A, configurable in settings).
- Operation workflow:
- The screen displays a frozen frame and a crosshair.
- Left-drag to select a region → the toolbar appears after the selection is finalized.
- Choose a color and tool in the toolbar (drag to draw arrows, click once to input text).
- Press
Enter, double-click, or click “Finish” to confirm and send. - Right-click / Esc to roll back step by step.
- Hidden window setting: “Hide SiLing window while taking screenshot” is enabled by default; in this case, the frozen frame does not include DSH’s own window. Disable this option to include the SiLing window in the frozen frame, allowing selection of conversation content.
Pure DSH (browser environment)¶
- Open any DSH session.
- Click the camera button on the left side of the input box (near the polish button).
- The browser displays a “Select screen to share” dialog; choose one screen.
- After capturing one frame, sharing stops automatically and the flow enters a full-screen overlay selection and annotation mode. Subsequent operations are the same as above.
Original Image Preview Editing¶
- Click the thumbnail of any image (draft or history message) to open the official “Original Image Preview” dialog.
- Click the ✎ edit button in the top-right corner.
- Annotate the entire image (using the same tools as screenshot mode), then click “Finish”.
- The system automatically submits the edited image to the input box and closes the preview window.
Configuration Options¶
On the “Plugins” page of DSH, in the corresponding dsh-capture card:
* Hide SiLing window while taking screenshot: Controls whether the frozen frame includes DSH’s own window in SiLing Shell mode.
* Screenshot global hotkey: Supports Electron accelerator syntax (such as Control+Alt+B); changes take effect immediately.
Notes¶
- Dual-image submission: When annotations are present, the plugin submits both the “original image” and the “edited image”. The original image retains the original content, while the edited image carries the annotations.
- Pure DSH limitations: In pure browser mode, only one screen can be selected; the host window cannot be hidden; global hotkeys cannot be used.
- Original image preview editing: In preview editing mode, the edited image is submitted (the original image is already in the conversation history).
- No-session discard: If a screenshot is triggered without opening any session, the operation is silently discarded, and the overlay displays “Open a session first”.
