Introduction¶
The core idea of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” For developers who are accustomed to working in the terminal, standard CLI interactions often lack fluid visual feedback and an ergonomic operating experience. dsh-omc-tui is a native terminal UI plugin designed for DeepSeek Harness, aimed at providing a full-featured TUI experience similar to Claude Code.
The plugin does not replace the core capabilities of DSH. Instead, it focuses on terminal-side rendering, input handling, and workflow integration.
Core Positioning¶
- Name:
dsh-omc-tui - Positioning: DeepSeek Harness (DSH) native full-featured terminal UI
- Maintainer: ipromise2021
- License: MIT
- Current version: v0.2.17 (compatible with DSH v0.2.0-rc.2)
Core Features¶
1. Independent Viewport and Native Terminal Experience¶
The plugin uses the terminal alternate screen and viewport differential rendering. After startup, interaction happens in an independent full-screen viewport. On exit, it automatically restores the original Shell screen and writes session content back to the terminal history.
- Smooth scrolling review and smart selection: Supports the SGR mouse protocol, with single-click, double-click (Chinese/English tokenization), and triple-click (whole line) selection. Copies automatically strip ANSI styling.
- Input recovery and robustness: Recognizes CSI/OSC/DCS control sequences and provides recovery paths for fragmented arrow-key events, incomplete pastes, and terminal mode loss after sleep/idle.
2. Dual-Mode Visual System¶
- Native passthrough: Supports pasting images in the terminal with
Cmd/Ctrl+V, or sending them via the iTerm2/Kitty protocol. Images are automatically saved to disk through the Harness attachment pipeline. - Autonomous Sidecar: In plain-text/code mode, the Agent can autonomously decide that an image needs to be inspected and automatically trigger the underlying
analyze_imagetool, launching an isolated visual sub-agent in the background for processing.
3. Immersive Typography and Code Highlighting¶
- Thinking Folding: During streaming, it shows animation and elapsed time. When thinking completes, it automatically collapses. Press
Ctrl+Oto expand the chain of thought and tool groups in place. - Themes and Highlighting: Built-in
claude, deepseek, mono, andlightthemes, with Markdown, Diff, and code block highlighting.
4. Real-Time Task Center and Plan Linkage¶
- Durable state awareness: Fully integrates with Harness
todo/writedurable snapshots. Task state drives the panel and status bar in real time. - Session recovery and Jobs: Supports restoring task progress from historical sessions. Running Shell commands can be moved to the background with
Ctrl+Bor managed through/jobs.
5. Inline Security Approval and Native Watchdog¶
- Line-level red/green Diff: Before file modifications or sensitive command execution, a structured approval card is shown, supporting single-key allow/deny and session-level permission escalation.
- Danger Guard: Intercepts dangerous commands such as
rm -rf /and Fork bombs before tool execution, with support for custom rules.
6. Panoramic Status Bar (HUD) and Efficiency Workflows¶
- 4-line panoramic status bar: Real-time display of model, permissions, Context progress, Git status, and extension information.
- Contamination-free side questions: Use
/btwto ask questions in an independent temporary session without polluting the main session context. - Automatic compaction and recap: When the Context threshold is reached, compaction is automatically triggered (
/compact), and/recapcan generate a session summary.
Installation and Enablement¶
Before installing, ensure the terminal supports ANSI 256 colors and Node.js (22.19+ or 24.2+) is installed.
- Install the plugin using the DSH
tuiprofile:
npx --yes @deepseek-ai/dsh@0.2.0-rc.2 plugin --profile tui add dsh-omc-tui@0.2.17
- Start the TUI:
npx --yes @deepseek-ai/dsh@0.2.0-rc.2 --profile tui
Typical Usage¶
- Keyboard shortcuts:
Enter: Send messageCtrl+O: Expand/collapse ThinkingCtrl+J: Multi-line inputCtrl+G: Edit Prompt@: Browse workspace
- Common commands:
/model: Select model/preset: Switch preset/vision: Configure visual model/plan: Enter/exit Plan mode/btw: Side question/compact: Compact context
Use Cases and Notes¶
The plugin relies on the Agent runtime, model selection, session management, and permission management provided by DeepSeek Harness. The plugin itself is responsible only for terminal interaction and rendering.
- Compatible version: The current version is strictly compatible with DSH
v0.2.0-rc.2. - Permissions scope: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. The agent security sandbox is controlled by DSH. The built-in Danger Guard provides additional local-level interception, but be sure to review the source code and license.
- Environment requirements: Requires Node.js 22.19+ or 24.2+ and a terminal that supports ANSI 256 colors.
Summary¶
dsh-omc-tui wraps DeepSeek Harness capabilities in a high-performance terminal interface. Through native viewport, differential rendering, and immersive typography, it addresses the shortcomings of traditional CLI interaction. Combined with inline approval, the panoramic status bar, and dual-mode visual capabilities, it is suitable for developers who frequently perform code operations and task management in the terminal.
