Preface¶
DeepSeek Harness uses a plugin-based architecture. During development or debugging, you often need to ask quick questions or verify ideas without interrupting the current main session flow. The traditional approach usually involves copying and pasting context or switching windows, which breaks flow. The plugin introduced below solves this problem through a sidebar entry.
What This Is¶
This is a client-side plugin maintained by enteguo. It adds a lightweight “quick chat” entry to DeepSeek Harness: a sidebar instant dialogue window with streaming output and optional context carrying.
Core Features¶
Sidebar entry
Bottom-right chat window (streaming output)
Model and thinking intensity switching
Context carrying (optional)
Chat history management
Installation and Enablement¶
Install from a local directory:
dsh plugin --profile desktop add ./dsh-plugin-quick-chat
Or install after packaging as a tarball:
dsh plugin --profile desktop add ./dsh-plugin-quick-chat-0.1.0.tgz
After installation, restart DSH so the host-side and client-side code are reloaded together.
Typical Usage¶
- Click the “Quick Chat” button below “New Chat” in the sidebar to open the bottom-right window.
- Click the gear icon to select the model and thinking intensity; click the context button to decide whether to carry the main session context (not carried by default).
- Type a message in the input box and press Enter to send. The reply is displayed with character-by-character streaming.
- Click the “☰” in the upper-right corner of the window to view chat history: click an entry to continue, or manage it with “Rename / Delete”.
Use Cases and Notes¶
This plugin is suitable for developers who need to quickly have plain-text conversations in DSH without interfering with the current main session.
Data and limitations:
All quick chats are saved in ~/.dsh/quick-chat/store.json and do not enter the main session list.
Verified for DSH 0.1.2-rc.1.
Plain-text conversations only; it does not call tools or subagents.
