In the DeepSeek Harness (DSH) ecosystem, building an agent with long-term memory, a stable personality, and the ability to handle complex interactions usually requires extensive prompt engineering or combinations of multiple plugins. The ajuwm/dsh-roleplay-plugin plugin addresses this need by providing a solution centered on immersive role-playing, with a desktop floating pet as an add-on. It focuses on improving character realism and interaction coherence.
What Is This¶
Maintained by user ajuwm, this is a DSH plugin with immersive role-playing as its main function and a desktop floating pet as an additional feature. It mainly addresses issues such as messy memory management in long-term conversations, character personas that easily break down, and a lack of day-to-day interactive feel.
Core Features¶
- Multi-character and memory management: Supports importing character cards from SillyTavern, with independent memory, diary, worldview, intimacy, and progression values; characters are fully isolated. Supports globally sharing the character card library and retaining state across conversations and preset switches.
- Opening guidance and design: Provides step-by-step guidance; for every step, you can reply “You decide” to let the AI design the character’s name and settings on the spot. After collection is complete, a personality profile is generated and the roleplay starts.
- Realism enhancement: Includes a hidden personality profile and three boundary questions, giving the character independent judgment and the right to object (for example, tsundere-style retorts or soft pushback).
- Multi-character room: Supports 1 player plus 2-3 characters interacting in the same scene, each with their own memories and relationships.
- Life and interaction system: Includes a heartbeat system (7 time slots), missing/anniversary reminders, and desktop viewing (with native image support).
- Narrative and script modes: Provides novel, script, and concise output styles, as well as a script mode (the user defines the beginning and ending, while the middle is freely roleplayed).
- Progression and intimacy: Includes vitals (fullness/health/mood/life), a coin shop, a three-axis intimacy system (affection/trust/attraction), and milestones (m1-m8).
- Plot continuity: A chapter-based plot archive (
roleplay_story) with cross-session restoration. - Sidebar settings: All settings are centralized in the sidebar and can be edited without starting the roleplay.
- Desk pet: A desktop floating standing-portrait window that supports dragging, touching, double-click dialogue, and speech-bubble muttering.
Installation and Activation¶
Installation requires DeepSeek Harness Web version (DSH 0.1.1+) and a pnpm environment (included with DSH Desktop; needs to be installed separately for the Web version).
dsh plugin --profile web add github:ajuwm/dsh-roleplay-plugin
After installation is complete, restart DSH. The role-play preset is automatically materialized into the specified directory, and the sidebar automatically mounts the relevant components.
Typical Usage¶
- Starting and guidance: After restarting DSH, create a new conversation and say “start” or “begin the show” to start the guided flow. During guidance, you can reply “You decide” at each step so the AI can design the character’s name and settings in real time.
- Desk pet assets: If you enable the desk pet, place standing-portrait assets into the
petdirectory under your DSH workspace (note: the assets must be provided by you; no copyrighted images are included). - Multi-character interaction: In the conversation, type “Let A and B keep me company together,” or select “Room” mode in the sidebar to start multi-character interaction.
Use Cases and Considerations¶
- Use cases: Suitable for users who want to quickly build agents in DSH with long-term memory, a sense of daily life, and complex emotional relationships.
- Environment requirements: The official DeepSeek adapter natively supports images, so no additional vision plugin is required.
- Desk pet notes: The desk pet is an optional add-on; disabling it does not affect the core role-playing features.
- Installation notes: It is recommended to install it using the official plugin command; the Web version requires pnpm. Because plugins run with the permissions of the current DSH process, we recommend reviewing the source code and license before installing.
Summary¶
By using systematic value management, hidden personality profiles, and plot-continuity storage, this plugin significantly lowers the barrier to building high-quality role-playing agents. For more details, visit the plugin directory page or the GitHub repository.
