DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin architecture, and the sidebar lacks a native entry to directly access chat.deepseek.com. This forces users to manually open a new tab in the browser, interrupting the current workflow. This plugin integrates the entry through a native-style button to solve this issue.

What It Is

This plugin is maintained by zerorigin-studio. It adds a “Web Chat” button directly below the “New Chat” button in the sidebar, and clicking it opens chat.deepseek.com. It automatically handles the window-opening behavior based on the runtime environment, ensuring it works correctly in both desktop and multi-tab modes.

Core Features

  1. Sidebar Button
    The button is located directly below the “New Chat” button in the sidebar. Its width, height, and hover animation are fully consistent with the native harness controls, blending seamlessly visually. In expanded state it shows “Web Chat”; in collapsed state it is a 36px icon and responds instantly.

  2. Desktop Standalone Window
    When running in the dsh-desktop (Wails v3 launcher) environment, clicking the button opens a standalone chat child window through the local bridge API. The main window (harness page) is not navigated away and supports parallel multitasking.

  3. Web Environment Fallback
    In pure browser or official browser mode (no local bridge API), the plugin automatically falls back to opening a new tab. chat.deepseek.com opens in a new tab, the current harness page is not redirected entirely, and the plugin features never become unavailable.

  4. Settings Toggle
    The entry can be enabled or disabled on the settings page through the dsh-deepseek-chat.showEntry configuration option.

Installation and Enablement

Add the plugin using the official installation command:

dsh plugin --profile web add @zerorigin-studio/dsh-deepseek-chat

After installation, restart harness to take effect.

Typical Usage

  1. Click the “Web Chat” button in the sidebar.
  2. In the dsh-desktop environment, the system will call window.dsh.desktop.openWindow({ url: CHAT_URL, title: "DeepSeek 网页对话" }) to open a standalone window.
  3. In a regular Web environment, the browser will open a new tab to access chat.deepseek.com.

  • Permissions and Source: The plugin runs with the current dsh process permissions. Please make sure to install it from a trusted source.
  • Effective Timing: After installation, harness must be restarted to load the new plugin.
  • Version Information: The currently distributed compiled artifact; the source files (tsx) and build scripts will be added in subsequent versions.
