Introduction

The philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin”. In local environments, organizing conversation archives, preventing accidental deletion of important outputs, and verifying the integrity of local backups usually require additional scripts or manual operations, which carries some risk. The dsh-conversation-archive plugin natively integrates archive management, output retention, and local backup features into the DSH settings interface. It aims to make DSH the single source of truth for conversation state and reduce cleanup risk through strict path validation and hash verification.

Core Features

The plugin is maintained by yxv1203-collab and is licensed under the MIT License. It mainly provides the following capabilities:

  1. Native archive management: Browse, search, and filter archived conversations directly in the DSH interface, with support for restoration or bulk deletion. Archive state is always synchronized by DSH, rather than relying on a separate index maintained by the plugin.
  2. Protected output retention: Before deleting a conversation, the plugin invokes the configured DSH model to review eligible outputs. Selected files are copied to a shared library and verified with content hashes to prevent accidental loss of important data.
  3. Verified local backups: Supports manually creating ZIP backups or automatic backups on a schedule or before shutdown. Each backup includes a manifest and hash checks. By default, 5 verified backups are retained, and automatic backup is disabled by default.
  4. Workspace and path safety: Supports DSH-registered workspaces across drives. The plugin backfills historical metadata and rejects traversal through links or symbolic links, ensuring path safety.

Installation and Activation

Use the official installation command to add the plugin to the web configuration file:

dsh plugin --profile web add github:yxv1203-collab/dsh-conversation-archive#v1.1.0

After installation is complete, restart DSH, and then you can find the related feature entry in Settings → Workspace Manager.

Typical Usage

Before installation, it is generally recommended to verify the integrity of the installation package. After downloading dsh-conversation-archive-1.1.0.tgz, you can use the following PowerShell command to calculate the hash value:

Get-FileHash .\dsh-conversation-archive-1.1.0.tgz -Algorithm SHA256

To remove the plugin, use:

dsh plugin --profile web remove dsh-conversation-archive

Use Cases and Notes

  • Environment requirements: The plugin requires Windows 10 or 11, PowerShell 5.1+, and a Node.js 20+ environment. DSH versions must pass testing in the range from 0.1.1-rc.2 to 0.1.2-rc.1.
  • Backup scope: Backups cover only registered DSH conversation data and retained files, and do not include the entire source code repository.
  • Restoration policy: File restoration can only target an empty destination and will never overwrite existing files.
  • Data retention: After removing the plugin, retained files and backups still exist and are not deleted.

The plugin helps developers manage local workspaces more safely through strict verification mechanisms. For more details, see the GitHub repository or the skill directory.
