In the DeepSeek Harness plugin ecosystem, long-form creative writing often faces fragmented context and scattered assets. XieShuJing is a fully DSH-native novel-writing workbench plugin designed to integrate novel outlines, main text, and Agent workflows within a single book, enabling large models to become creative “novel experts.”
The plugin is maintained by shuaweng and under an MIT license. It uses a complete set of novel-specific tools, hooks, skills, and subagents to let Agents collaborate around outlines, chapter outlines, and versions, ultimately delivering an intuitive interaction experience.
Core Features¶
XieShuJing primarily solves asset management and Agent context synchronization in novel writing. It provides the following core capabilities:
- WYSIWYG workbench: The workbench content is shared with the user’s view; Agents can see and modify the current chapter, selection, and pinned references, ensuring a coherent interaction experience.
- Library and asset management: Provides a novel library homepage, cross-project continuation, and daily word-count statistics. Supports unified management of main text, full-book outline, volume outline, chapter outline, book overview, style settings, and Story State.
- Chapter and version management: Supports creating, renaming, deleting, and drag-sorting chapters, with autosave. Provides ChangeSet and Revision mechanisms; Agent modifications are presented as proposals and committed to the manuscript only after user acceptance, with historical versions recoverable at any time.
- Agent collaboration and execution: Agents have dedicated Novel Tools and can perform scene actions and style rewrites. All execution is based on the DSH native system; the default Novel Preset does not expose generic Shell or arbitrary file-write capabilities to Agents.
- Review and optimization: Built-in strict review and NOAI scanning. Strict review focuses on logic, pacing, and character behavior; NOAI highlights high-frequency mechanical phrasing. Both provide diagnostics without directly overwriting the main text.
- Self-evolution mechanism: Records user manual edits, Prompt changes, and finalized content, and uses preference extraction to help Agents understand writing style, enabling model adaptation.
Installation and Enablement¶
- Install plugin:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:shuaweng/DSH_xieshujing#v0.1.3-alpha.1
- Start Web Profile:
dsh --profile web
- Usage: Select “Novel Workbench” in Agent Preset, then click the XieShuJing icon in the input box.
Installation will not replace the original default Preset, nor affect other Profiles.
Runtime Requirements and Notes¶
- Environment requirements: Requires DeepSeek Harness
0.1.3-alpha.1version family, and Node.js^22.19.0 || >=24.0.0. - Data security: Novel content is stored in a local directory; the default Novel Preset restricts Agent filesystem access, allowing safe modifications only through novel-specific tools.
- Compatibility: Installation using version tags is recommended; check the compatibility matrix before upgrading DSH.
Applicable Scenarios¶
- Authors serializing long-form web novels who want Agents to remember prior content, chapter outlines, and the book’s pacing.
- People already writing in DSH but no longer want to manage novels with “chat logs + scattered files.”
- People who want AI to help with continuation, rewriting, and review, while ensuring all changes are visible, optional, and recoverable.
- People who want novels kept on their own computer and continued to be managed with Markdown, YAML, and Git.
XieShuJing provides full-process support from outline construction and main-text writing to review and finalization. For more details, consult the GitHub repository or the community directory.
