Preface¶
The default behavior of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is to lose all context after a session ends. The dsh-honcho plugin provides persistent memory for DSH through Honcho, solving the context loss problem by remembering what you are building, working preferences, and previous decisions.
Plugin Introduction¶
dsh-honcho is a client plugin maintained by Plastic Labs. It provides DeepSeek Harness with Honcho-driven persistent memory functionality.
Core Features¶
- Session startup injection: Injects project context and peer cards at the start of a session.
- Background message capture: Captures user and assistant messages in the background.
- Built-in tools: Provides three tools:
honcho_search,honcho_chat, andhoncho_remember. - Status viewing: Displays status and a dashboard link through the
/honchocommand.
Installation and Configuration¶
- Ensure the environment meets the requirements: Node.js
^22.19.0 || >=24.0.0is required. - Run the installation command:
dsh plugin --profile <name> add @honcho-ai/dsh-honcho
- Configure the API key: Configure the API key and peer name in
~/.honcho/config.
{
"peerName": "your-name",
"auth": { "apiKey": "${HONCHO_API_KEY}" },
"hosts": {
"dsh": { "workspace": "dsh" }
}
}
Usage Scenarios and Notes¶
- Shared memory: By default, different integrations do not see each other’s memories. You need to set
workspaceto the same value to share memory. - Configuration format: The configuration file is read as strict JSON, and comments are skipped.
- Dependency requirements: An Honcho API key and account are required (access
app.honcho.dev).
Conclusion¶
dsh-honcho aims to provide persistent memory support for DeepSeek Harness. For more details, see the plugin directory or the GitHub repository.
