Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) provides plugin extension capabilities for managing various components of agents. When handling Skills, MCP servers, and quick messages, developers usually need to work with the filesystem or command line. To perform these operations under a Web GUI, the dsh-plugin-capability-panel plugin is introduced.

Plugin Overview

The plugin is maintained by chengdb and aims to provide a visual capability management panel for the DSH Web GUI. It allows users to manage all project capabilities directly in the browser, including Skills, MCP servers, and quick messages. The plugin supports both project-level and global-level scopes, and all installation, start/stop, and distribution operations can be completed without leaving the browser.

Core Features

A new “Capability Panel” entry is added at the bottom of the plugin sidebar (next to Settings), supporting management of the following capability domains:

  • Visual management: Supports browsing, searching, editing, and deleting Skills, MCP servers, and quick messages.
  • Dual scopes: All capability domains are divided into “project-level” and “global-level”. The project area only displays the current project configuration, while the global area displays the global configuration.
  • Skills management:
    • Supports three installation methods: browser upload (supports .md, directories, or .zip), host path, and URL download.
    • Supports one-click export.
    • In the project area, supports enabling/disabling, with independent control of the “model invocation” and “user invocation” directions.
  • MCP server management:
    • Supports hot mounting; no restart is required after configuration changes.
    • Compatible with the .mcp.json format of Claude Code.
    • Supports environment variable interpolation.
  • Quick message management:
    • Supports one-click appending to draft.
    • Supports sending the entire message directly with one click.
  • Input box tool group: Three popover entries for quick messages, Skills, and MCP are registered in the lower-left corner of the input box for convenient quick operations.

Installation and Enablement

Run the following command in the terminal to install the plugin:

dsh plugin --profile web add "github:chengdb/dsh-plugin-capability-panel#v1.1.0"

After installation is complete, refresh the Web GUI. The “Capability Panel” entry can be found in the sidebar settings area.

Typical Usage

After installation, it can be used in the following ways:

  1. Install Skills: In the capability panel, you can drag in a single .md file, an entire skill directory, or a .zip archive to install it. It can also be installed via a host path or URL download.
  2. Configure MCP: Add MCP servers through the form, supporting stdio, sse, and http types.
  3. Call Skills: In the input box popover, click the skill name to append /name to the draft and send it.
  4. Send quick messages: In the input box popover, click a quick message, supporting one-click direct sending or appending to the draft.
  5. Control MCP: In the MCP popover of the input box, you can toggle the enable/disable status of global MCP servers for the current project.

Notes

  • Configuration file location: Plugin writes preferentially use the .agents directory, while reads remain compatible with legacy locations (such as .dsh and .claude). When writing to the new location for the first time, old file contents are merged automatically and deleted.
  • Skills enable/disable: Enable/disable operations only occur in the project area. Skills in the global area are always available and cannot be directly disabled in the panel.
  • MCP compatibility: MCP configuration is compatible with the .mcp.json format of Claude Code and supports environment variable interpolation.
  • UI characteristics: The plugin UI is purely additive and does not replace the host’s built-in UI.
  • Compatibility: The directory-based Skills format is byte-for-byte compatible with the official filesystem provider.
  • License: No license information was found.

Conclusion

This plugin moves cumbersome file configuration and command-line operations into the Web GUI. Through the dual-scope design of project-level and global-level, it achieves unified management and distribution of capabilities. For developers accustomed to operating in the browser, this is a practical tool.
