Introduction¶
When developing agents, asking a large language model to directly output chart files or complex chart configurations often exceeds current models’ text generation capabilities. Developers usually need to write chart code manually or look for external tools, which increases development costs. The DSH plugin ecosystem provides a solution to this problem.
Plugin Overview¶
xby-generate-echarts is a dynamic chart generation and data analysis tool based on Apache ECharts. Maintained by xby-skill, the plugin is designed to enable agents to directly generate various types of visual charts through the MCP protocol.
Core Features¶
The plugin provides the following key features:
- set_xby_apikey: Set the API key in the conversation. This configuration is persisted automatically and remains valid after a restart.
- generate_echarts: A general-purpose chart generation interface that dynamically generates visual charts using Apache ECharts configuration options.
- Supported chart types:
- generate_line_chart: line chart (trend analysis)
- generate_bar_chart: bar chart (numerical comparison)
- generate_pie_chart: pie chart (proportional distribution)
- generate_radar_chart: radar chart (multidimensional data)
- generate_scatter_chart: scatter chart (variable relationships)
- generate_sankey_chart: Sankey diagram (data flow)
- generate_funnel_chart: funnel chart (conversion process)
- generate_gauge_chart: gauge chart (single-metric status)
- generate_treemap_chart: treemap (hierarchical data)
- generate_sunburst_chart: sunburst chart (multilevel structure)
- generate_heatmap_chart: heatmap (density/intensity)
- generate_candlestick_chart: candlestick chart (financial data)
- generate_boxplot_chart: box plot (statistical summary)
- generate_graph_chart: relationship graph (network relationships)
- generate_parallel_chart: parallel coordinate chart (multidimensional comparison)
- generate_tree_chart: tree chart (hierarchical structure)
Installation and Enablement¶
Before installing, ensure that DeepSeek Harness is installed and a network connection is available. Installing this plugin requires specifying a profile; the web profile is recommended by default.
# 安装插件
dsh plugin --profile web add github:xby_skill/xby-generate-echarts
After installation, invoke the relevant feature in a chat to start using it.
Typical Usage¶
The following are typical invocation scenarios supported by the plugin:
-
Trend analysis: Generate a line chart to show data trends over time.
> Example: “Generate a line chart to show trends over time, such as, the ratio of Apple computer sales to Apple’s profits changed from 2000 to 2016.” -
Numerical comparison: Generate a bar chart for numerical comparisons among different categories, either horizontal or vertical.
> Example: “Generate a bar chart to show data for numerical comparisons among different categories, such as, comparing categorical data and for horizontal comparisons.” -
Proportional distribution: Generate a pie chart to show the proportional relationship between parts and the whole.
> Example: “Generate a pie chart to show the proportion of parts, such as, market share and budget allocation.” -
Multidimensional evaluation: Generate a radar chart to evaluate an object across multiple dimensions.
> Example: “Generate a radar chart to display multidimensional data (four dimensions or more), such as, evaluate Huawei and Apple phones in terms of five dimensions: ease of use, functionality, camera, benchmark scores, and battery life.”
Use Cases and Notes¶
This plugin is suitable for developers who need to include visual data presentations in agent outputs.
Notes:
1. API key: Before using the plugin, register on the XBY official website and obtain an API key.
2. Permissions and compliance: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. Check the source code and license (MIT) before installation.
3. Dependencies: This plugin is built based on Apache ECharts.
Summary¶
xby-generate-echarts fills the gap between LLM text generation and visual presentation, providing agents with the ability to generate professional charts. For more details or to submit an Issue, visit its GitHub repository.
