Introduction

The philosophy of DeepSeek Harness is “everything is a plugin.” When generating images using a local or API gateway, you usually need to integrate interfaces from multiple vendors. The dsh-image-generation plugin provides a settings page for centrally managing multiple vendor and model configurations, and it allows you to invoke the currently selected model in a conversation through the image_generate tool.

Multi-Vendor Configuration

Go to Settings → Image Generation Configuration (left navigation). You can add multiple vendors and configure the name, Base URL, API format, API Key, and model group. Keys are stored through the credential service and are not written directly to configuration files.

Conversation Model Selection

Go to Settings → Plugins → Plugin Configuration → Image Generation. Select only one from the configured models as the image generation model for conversations. Here you can enable or disable the tool and set the default size and quality.

Tool Invocation

When the Agent needs to generate an image during a conversation, it calls the image_generate tool. The generated image is written to the workspace generate/image/ directory and displayed inline in the conversation.

Installation and Activation

Install using npm:

dsh plugin --profile <name> add dsh-image-generation

Note: In version 0.1.0, the __ModuleLoader__ id is dsh-image-gen, and DSH will refuse to start. Please install version 0.1.1 or later. You must fully quit and reopen DSH (not merely refresh the page) for the installation to take effect.

Typical Usage

  1. Open Settings → Image Generation Configuration, add vendors and models, and save.
  2. Open Settings → Plugins → Plugin Configuration, expand Image Generation, select a model, and save.
  3. Ask the Agent to generate images in the conversation. It will call image_generate.

Tool parameters:

  • prompt: Required. The prompt.
  • size: Image size. Supports 1024x1024 / 1024x1536 / 1536x1024 / auto.
  • quality: Quality. Supports low / medium / high / auto.
  • referenceImages: Reference images. 1 to 5 images.

Notes

  • Version Compatibility: Version 0.1.0 has startup issues. Please make sure to install version 0.1.1 or later.
  • Startup Timing: DSH composes plugins when the process starts. If you install them after startup, you must fully quit and reopen DSH; refreshing the page only is not enough.
  • Plugin Overlap: This feature overlaps with the official @deepseek-ai/dsh-tool-image-generation. This plugin includes its own settings page, so you generally do not need to install the official package.
  • Tool Name Conflict: Both this plugin and dsh-plugin-subscriptions use the tool name image_generate. Choose based on your needs (use this plugin for API gateway image generation; use subscriptions for subscription-based image generation).
