When running agents in a DSH environment or developing locally, monitoring the real-time temperatures of the CPU, memory, and GPU helps identify hardware overheating risks early. The dsh-thermal-monitor plugin integrates hardware status directly into the sidebar of the Web interface, providing a temperature monitoring solution without switching windows.
Plugin Overview¶
This plugin is maintained by whiskey1993 and is a client-side component. Its core purpose is to add an icon with a real-time temperature badge to the DSH Web sidebar. Clicking the icon expands a complete dashboard grouped by CPU, memory, GPU, solid-state drive, and motherboard.
Core Features¶
- Real-Time Sidebar Badge: Displays the current highest temperature next to the icon.
- Temperature-Based Color Coding: Automatically changes color based on temperature: green <65°C, orange 65–79°C, red ≥80°C.
- Grouped Display: Classifies and displays sensor data by CPU, memory, GPU, solid-state drive, and motherboard.
- Automatic Fallback on Elevation Failure: If administrator privileges cannot be obtained, the plugin automatically switches to a no-elevation mode to ensure the dashboard is not empty.
- No-Elevation Fallback Mode: Without administrator privileges, it only displays GPU, motherboard, and ambient temperatures.
- Theme Following: The dashboard color scheme automatically adapts to DSH’s light and dark themes.
- Smart Polling: Automatically pauses polling when the page is not visible to conserve resources.
Installation and Enablement¶
Install the plugin using the command provided by the official channel:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:whiskey1993/dsh-thermal-monitor
After installation, you need to restart dsh (web profile). If the icon does not appear in the sidebar after the restart, refresh the browser page. The plugin shows one UAC prompt on first startup (reading CPU core and memory temperatures requires administrator privileges).
Usage¶
- Permission Handling: After rejecting the UAC prompt, the plugin automatically degrades, displaying only GPU and motherboard/ambient temperatures.
- Re-elevation: If you need to view full CPU/memory temperatures, click the “Re-elevate” button at the bottom of the dashboard to retry; no DSH restart is required.
- Data Refresh: After the server restarts, you must refresh the browser page to see updates.
Environment Requirements and Limitations¶
- Operating System: Supports only Windows 10 / 11.
- Permission Requirements: CPU and memory temperatures require administrator privileges; rejecting elevation enters fallback mode.
- Hardware Support: AMD/Intel integrated graphics temperatures are not supported.
- Refresh Mechanism: Because the client startup manifest is injected when the page loads, you must refresh the browser page after a server restart to see updates.
