Preface¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture, and the default workspace background can often feel quite plain. During extended agent development or conversations, a context-appropriate background can improve immersion. dsh-scenery aims to inject environmental atmosphere into the DSH workspace through visual overlays, without changing the existing UI layout or interaction logic.
Plugin Overview¶
dsh-scenery is a background-style plugin maintained by wbaws. It simulates a Capy-style environmental background: after selecting an image, the plugin composites it with a large bottom black gradient and a soft radial glow around the editor, making the UI appear as if it is “situated within a scene” rather than floating on a flat color. The plugin performs additive overlays only and does not touch the existing UI, layout, or interaction behavior.
Core Features¶
- Environmental background: Provides an atmospheric background for the DSH workspace.
- Image support: Supports uploading local images (stored via PUT in the user’s DSH home directory) or pasting an image URL directly.
- Image controls: Supports fit (
cover/contain/fill), pan (position X/Y), zoom (scale), blur (Gaussian blur), and overall opacity control. - Bottom gradient: Generates a large bottom black linear gradient with a smooth transition and no color banding.
- Editor glow: Generates a radial glow around the editor, and the glow automatically tracks the real editor seat (sticky bottom bar).
- Live preview: Includes a standalone page
preview/index.html, allowing independent previewing and fine-tuning of visual effects in a browser. - Persistence: Configuration and wallpaper files are stored in the
~/.dsh/dsh-scenery/configdirectory. - Reset function: Provides one-click reset of settings and clearing of the current image.
Installation and Enablement¶
Install via the official CLI:
dsh plugin --profile desktop add dsh-scenery
After installation, restart or reload DSH, go to Settings → Scenery background, select an image, and turn on the Enable switch.
Typical Usage¶
- Start DSH and ensure that
dsh-sceneryis installed. - Open the settings menu and locate the “Scenery background” section.
- Upload a local image or enter an image URL.
- Adjust parameters such as Fit, Position, Zoom, and Opacity as needed.
- For fine-tuning, open
preview/index.htmlin the plugin directory to preview and debug offline.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Additive overlay: This plugin only adds a click-through layer behind the conversation column; it does not redesign the UI or change the layout of existing components.
- Permission requirements: The plugin runs with the current DSH process permissions and requires DSH configuration file support for the client plugin system (consistent with similar plugins such as
dsh-petanddsh-better-sidebar). - Storage path: The configuration persistence path is
~/.dsh/dsh-scenery/config, and wallpaper files are stored in the corresponding directory or under$DSH_HOME/dsh-scenery/. - License: MIT License.
Summary¶
dsh-scenery provides a low-intrusiveness visual enhancement solution. If you want to add a touch of atmosphere to the workspace while preserving DSH’s native interaction experience, this plugin is a suitable tool.
