Preface¶
The plugin-based architecture of DeepSeek Harness allows model capabilities to be extended through tools, but the model itself cannot retrieve real-time data from the internet. Large-model training data has a cutoff time, so for any “current real-world value” — today’s exchange rate, the current temperature, the latest version of a package, or the current price of a stock — the model can only guess.
The dsh-live-data plugin turns these data values into directly callable tools. The return values are real data fetched on demand from public APIs. The output is presented in a style familiar to Chinese users: Chinese currency names, quotes such as “100 Foreign Currency = X RMB”, wind force in “levels”, price change amount + change percentage, and amounts using “wan/yi” units.
Plugin Overview¶
This is a “network tool” plugin maintained by uckkk. It provides 10 tools, all fetching data from 8 public endpoints that do not require API keys. After installing it once, exchange rates, weather, package versions, repository information, video data, A-share quotes, gold prices, and IP geolocation are all available.
Core Features¶
The plugin currently includes the following tools:
- Real-time exchange rate lookup and conversion (data source: open.er-api.com)
- Real-time weather by city (data source: Open-Meteo)
- npm package latest version (data source: registry.npmjs.org)
- GitHub repository information (star/fork/issue) (data source: api.github.com)
- PyPI package latest version (data source: Tsinghua PyPI mirror)
- Bilibili video information (views/likes/coins) (data source: api.bilibili.com)
- A-share real-time quotes (data source: Sina Finance)
- Market index quotes (data source: Sina Finance)
- Gold price (domestic CNY/gram + international USD/troy ounce) (data source: Sina Finance)
- IP geolocation lookup (data source: api.ip.sb)
Installation and Enabling¶
- Run the installation command in the terminal:
npm install dsh-live-data
Or install it directly from GitHub:
dsh plugin add github:uckkk/dsh-live-data
- Restart or reload the DSH page to activate the plugin.
Settings Panel¶
The plugin provides a settings panel at “Settings → Live Data”. Default parameters for each tool can be configured here. Changes take effect immediately and are used automatically when no parameters are passed.
The main configuration items include:
* Default city (for weather_live)
* Default stock code (for stock_live)
* Default currency pair (for fx_live)
* Default index (Shanghai/Shenzhen, etc., for index_live)
* Default query IP (for ip_live)
* Default GitHub repository (for github_live)
* Gold price unit display
The configuration file is saved at ~/.dsh/storages/live-data/config.json. At the bottom there is a “Restore defaults” button.
Typical Usage¶
After configuring defaults, you can ask questions directly in the conversation. Here are some common examples:
- Check today’s USD to CNY exchange rate
- What is the weather in Shanghai right now?
- What is the latest version of Vue?
- How many stars does deepseek-ai/deepseek-harness have?
- How much is Kweichow Moutai trading for right now?
- What is the Shanghai Composite Index level today?
- What is the current gold price?
- Where is IP address 8.8.8.8 located?
Notes¶
- Keyless access: None of the endpoints require an API key; the plugin is ready to use immediately after installation.
- Timeout limits: All requests have an 8–12 second timeout, so they will not hang indefinitely.
- Data nature: Market and exchange rate data are for personal reference only and do not constitute investment advice; actual transactions should be based on official quoted prices.
- Risk warning: The plugin runs with the permissions of the current DSH process. It is recommended to review the source code and license before installing.
Conclusion¶
This plugin addresses the core limitation that models “cannot obtain real-time data”, turning tasks that would otherwise require an external agent or toolchain into a single plugin call. For more details and the source code, refer to the community directory or the GitHub repository.
