Introduction¶
DeepSeek Harness (DSH) follows the “everything is a plugin” philosophy and extends its functionality through plugins. Session title management is often an overlooked aspect in agent development, and inconsistent titles can directly affect downstream search, filtering, and review. dsh-titlecraft was created to address this issue. It is maintained by user TyrantG and aims to make DSH session titles shorter, more accurate, and more consistent.
What It Is¶
This is a DSH session title plugin. It takes over DSH’s original title generation logic and supports standardizing session title formats through custom templates, built-in semantic icons, and optional AI generation and semantic refinement.
Core Features¶
- Titles Only: The plugin only modifies session title text. It does not change message content, workspace settings, sorting, pinned status, or archive status.
- Templates and Placeholders: Seven built-in title templates are provided, supporting custom formatting with placeholders such as
{date},{type},{topic}, and{icon}. - Type Management: Supports adding, removing, enabling, or disabling title types.
- Date Source: The date is configurable, with sources including session creation time, last human message, last completed turn, or last persistent activity.
- Semantic Icons: Contains 206 local semantic icons. In smart mode, it selects an appropriate icon from the whitelist based on the topic.
- No-Model-Call Optimization: If the system can directly determine a complete short topic, it does not call a model; if it is unsure, it keeps the original title.
- AI Generation and Refinement: Supports calling a model once after the first human message to generate a title, or performing semantic refinement after a turn ends.
- Manual Title Protection: Manually set titles are protected. Any new turn, configuration change, cancellation, or plugin uninstallation terminates stale tasks.
- Native Rename Support: The native rename workspace supports AI-generated summaries and generating titles from summaries.
Installation and Enablement¶
After installation or upgrade, you need to restart DSH Web.
dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-titlecraft -w
After restarting, go to Settings → Plugins → Plugin Configuration → TitleCraft to configure it. After installation, TitleCraft replaces the built-in DSH title provider. Note that DSH can only use one title provider at a time.
Typical Usage¶
The default title format is usually:
MMDD|类型|主题
When using placeholders, {topic} must be included. For example, you can customize the template to {date}|{type}|{icon}{topic}.
Title Rules and Limits:
* Topic: Project names are removed from the topic; the {topic} placeholder must be included.
* Length: The result must not exceed 80 UTF-8 bytes.
* Fallback Behavior: If the result contains unknown placeholders, an incomplete topic, or exceeds the byte limit, it will not be written. If the result is uncertain, the current title is kept.
* Icons: Icons are part of the text and affect search, copying, forking, and the byte limit. The plugin does not download remote icons or fonts.
Use Cases and Notes¶
This plugin is suitable for users who want to manage a large number of sessions uniformly.
Notes:
* Single Provider Limitation: DSH can only use one title provider at a time.
* Model Call Costs: When AI generation or refinement is enabled, model calls may incur costs, but this does not change the model or reasoning effort used by the main session.
* Fixed Model Validation: If a fixed model combination is selected, it must pass validation before it can be saved.
* Permissions: The plugin runs with the current DSH process permissions. It is recommended to review the source code and license before installation.
Summary¶
dsh-titlecraft provides a complete solution from template definition to AI-assisted generation, helping developers maintain a clean session list. Its core value lies in keeping titles consistent while reducing unnecessary model calls through intelligent judgment and local resources.
