Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) uses a plugin-based architecture, allowing developers to extend functionality with code. When developing agents or having conversations, you may sometimes want to change how text appears in the interface (for example, displaying “I” as “Meow Meow”), without modifying the underlying actual conversation data, affecting context memory, or altering session logs.

The tumi-huakai/dsh-plugin-meow-speech plugin is designed for this need: it replaces text at the browser rendering layer, achieving “only change the display, not the truth”.

Plugin Overview

Name: tumi-huakai/dsh-plugin-meow-speech
Purpose: DSH message body display-layer text replacement plugin (interface display only; does not modify actual conversation content)
Maintainer: tumi-huakai
License: MIT

Core Features

This plugin does not involve complex logic processing. Its core is a configurable set of display-layer replacement rules.

  • Display layer only: It only changes interface rendering and never modifies actual conversation content. The copy button still retrieves the original text, with no impact on context, memory, session logs, or tool calls.
  • Preset rules: The default rules are “I → Meow Meow” and “you → Master”; users can delete or modify them.
  • Graphical panel: A “Meow” floating button in the lower-right corner opens the settings panel. The panel supports drag-and-drop layout.
  • Rule conflict handling: When multiple rules conflict, the longer source text takes priority (for example, “my” takes priority over “I”).
  • Whole-word matching: Each rule can be marked as “whole word”. When enabled, replacement occurs only when both sides are non-letter characters such as punctuation or spaces, preventing false replacements such as “mini” becoming “mini Master”.
  • Code block protection: Fenced code blocks (`) and inline code () are never replaced.
  • Streaming output support: Replacements happen in real time as the AI outputs character by character, supporting cross-chunk cases with no omissions, duplicates, or flickering.
  • Local persistence: Rules are saved in the browser’s localStorage and remain effective after restarting DSH.
  • Clean uninstall: Run dsh plugin remove to completely remove the plugin without leaving behind nodes, styles, or observers.

Installation and Enabling

The plugin is published on npm and supports both Web and Desktop profiles.

dsh plugin --profile web add @tumi-huakai/dsh-plugin-meow-speech

After installation, restart DSH and refresh the page. A “Meow” button will appear in the lower-right corner.

Usage Steps

  1. Open the panel: Click the floating “Meow” button in the lower-right corner.
  2. Edit rules: Modify or add rules in the table. Table columns include: source text, display as, whole word, enabled, and actions (move up, move down, delete).
  3. Add a rule: Click “+ Add rule”. Note that saving is blocked if the source text is empty.
  4. Live preview: Enter sample text in the preview box to view the replacement effect.
  5. Save or discard: Click “Save” to immediately apply the rules to the entire conversation; click “Discard changes” to restore the last saved state; click “Restore defaults” to revert to the preset rules.

Notes

  • Scope: Replacements apply to the main body of AI replies and the user’s own message bubbles. Thinking blocks, tool cards, and stats lines are not replaced.
  • Actual content remains unchanged: The AI’s actual response content still says “I”; the plugin does not change the AI’s self-identity. To truly change the AI persona, configure the system prompt or a persona plugin instead.
  • Data storage: Rules are stored in localStorage (isolated by page origin). Clearing site data will reset the rules.

Summary

This plugin provides DSH users with a lightweight way to customize text display at the rendering layer. It is suitable for adjusting the display style of the conversation interface without changing the underlying logic.
