DeepSeek Harness follows the “everything is a plugin” design philosophy. During local debugging or development, developers often accumulate multiple custom Agent presets. When the number of presets is large, the official default preset selector can easily become visually cluttered, reducing filtering efficiency. The dsh-presets-hidden plugin aims to solve this UI-side pain point by taking over the preset selector rendering logic on the browser side and providing fine-grained display and sorting control.

Core Capabilities

The plugin mainly provides preset management capabilities on the browser side, including:

  1. Management entry point: Provides search, visibility filtering, item-by-item toggles, and order adjustments under “Settings -> Preset Display”.
  2. Selector replacement: Replaces the Agent preset selector on the new session page with the processed list.
  3. Persistent configuration:
    • On loopback pages, the visibility list and ordering are written as volatile fields of the plugin Config into the current profile’s cordis.patch.yml (entry id preset-visibility).
    • Non-loopback pages continue to use the current browser’s localStorage, with the key name dsh.presets-hidden.visibility.v1.
  4. Data migration: Old data is migrated automatically (performed only once if the profile has not yet saved these two fields).

Installation and Activation

After being published to npm, it can be installed directly through the DSH plugin mechanism:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-presets-hidden

After installation, the plugin takes effect automatically. The editing entry point is under “Settings → Preset Display”.

Version Compatibility

Before use, pay attention to the version compatibility relationships:

  • 0.2.x requires installing deepseek-harness 0.1.7-rc.1 or later.
  • Starting from 0.2.1, it is also compatible with 0.1.7-rc.2.
  • Starting from 0.2.2, peerDependencies cover 0.1.7-rc.1 and 0.2.0-rc.1, so DSH 0.2.0-rc.x no longer considers this plugin incompatible.

Behavioral Boundaries

  1. Display logic: Consistent with the official selector. When developer tools are disabled, or when the Host still publishes the “new task selectable mode” policy but turns it off, the new session page does not display the preset control and uses the Host default preset.
  2. Sorting rules:
    • Move up and move down operate on the complete list; when search or visibility filtering is active, the sorting buttons are disabled.
    • Newly appearing custom presets are automatically appended to the end of the existing order.
    • “Restore default order” returns to the Host roster order.
  3. Scope of application: It only handles the preset selector on the new session page. The official “Agent Presets” management page, session titles, old session restoration, direct API calls, and plugin diagnostics still use the complete list.
  4. Exception handling:
    • If the preset currently selected in a blank session is hidden, the plugin switches to the first visible preset through the official selection API.
    • If all presets are hidden, the new session page does not display the preset control, and the Host default preset remains effective.

Conclusion

dsh-presets-hidden is a lightweight UI enhancement plugin focused on improving the controllability of preset management in DeepSeek Harness. Through fine-grained visibility and sorting features, developers can focus more on the implementation of Agent logic itself, rather than searching for targets in a cluttered list.
