Preface¶
The design philosophy of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is “everything is a plugin.” When integrating realtime voice/video APIs, developers usually face two pain points: first, manually pasting an API Key into the conversation is a security risk and requires reconfiguration for each session; second, when calling the API directly, the model may unintentionally trigger credit-consuming operations, and they cannot be tracked. The dsh-realtimeavatar plugin encapsulates Realtime Avatar capabilities as native Harness primitives: the API Key is held and resolved by Harness, documentation is converted into on-demand skills, API calls are wrapped through tools, and a /rta command guides developers through the process from having no key to establishing a call.
What Is This¶
dsh-realtimeavatar is a plugin for DeepSeek Harness that enables voice or video calls with realtime AI characters. The plugin is maintained by theinfluencecompany and categorized as “Fun Dress-Up.”
The plugin is positioned as follows:
* Secure Credential Custody: Harness holds the API key, and it is not visible to the model.
* Knowledge Base as Skills: Converts 14 public documentation pages into skills that can be loaded on demand.
* Tool-based Encapsulation: Exposes functionality through 18 REST API tools named rta_*.
* Zero Dependencies: Does not rely on any runtime libraries.
Core Features¶
The plugin provides the following verified capabilities:
- Realtime Calls: Supports voice/video calls with realtime AI characters.
- Status and Balance Queries: Provides
rta_statusto check key status and credit limits, andrta_balanceto view available and reserved credits. - Resource Management: Provides
rta_avatarsto list workspace avatars,rta_avatar_createto create an avatar, andrta_session_mintto create a call session. - Documentation Support: Provides
rta_docsto retrieve documentation.
Installation and Enabling¶
The current materials do not explicitly provide specific installation commands. According to the package.json information, the plugin includes files such as lib, skills, cordis.patch.yml, README.md, and LICENSE.
It can usually be installed through the plugin directory or the GitHub repository. Before use, review the source code and license (MIT).
Typical Usage¶
Developers can interact with the plugin through the following steps:
- Getting Started: Use the
/rtacommand to get started. - Check Status: Run
rta_statusto check key configuration, credits, and availability. - Manage Assets: Run
rta_avatarsto list workspace avatars, or userta_assetsto list uploaded image assets (used to create avatars). - Create a Call: Run
rta_session_mintto create a call session. - Create an Avatar: Use
rta_avatar_createto create an avatar from image assets.
Use Cases and Notes¶
- Approval Mechanism: Write operations are enabled by default but require approval; any operation that consumes credits always asks for approval. If you need to completely prohibit writes, set
readOnly:truein the configuration. - Idempotency Control: For retry operations, you must use
Idempotency-Keyto prevent duplicate execution. - Network and Security:
transcriptWebhookmust be configured with the HTTPS protocol. - Session Limits: Call duration is limited by the
maxSessionSecondssetting.
In Short¶
dsh-realtimeavatar reduces the complexity of managing realtime call APIs for developers by encapsulating credentials, documentation, and API tools within Harness, and provides a secure integration path.
