Introduction¶
The plugin system of DeepSeek Harness (DSH) allows developers to extend its capabilities. When developing or using an Agent to handle web pages, frequently switching browser windows interrupts the workflow. The deep-browser plugin embeds HTTP(S) pages in the right sidebar of the conversation window, enabling a seamless connection between context and web pages.
Plugin Purpose¶
This is a plugin for DeepSeek Harness, designed to open and browse web pages in the right sidebar of the conversation window. It is maintained by the user temidayoxyz under the MIT License. It addresses the need to view live web pages directly within the DSH environment, rather than relying on screenshots or external browsers.
Core Features¶
The plugin provides a set of browsing functions based on the capabilities of the current Web Profile:
- Basic operations: Supports creating new tabs, entering URLs in the address bar, refreshing pages, and opening links in the system browser.
- Layout control: Provides width presets (Fit / 390 / 768). Note that this is a CSS layout adjustment for the iframe, not device UA emulation.
- Interaction logic: Clicking an HTTP(S) link in the UI (without modifier keys) opens it in the sidebar; local
localhost/ loopback addresses are automatically converted tohttp://access.
Installation and Enablement¶
Use the official installation command:
dsh plugin --profile web add github:temidayoxyz/deep-browser
Note: Installing from git pulls the source code rather than build artifacts. The plugin builds the lib/ directory through the pnpm prepare script. If your environment uses pnpm ≥ 10, the first addition may fail due to build restrictions. In this case, copy the package key from the pnpm error message into the configuration file pnpm-workspace.yaml:
allowBuilds:
dsh-deep-browser: true
Run the add command again. Ensure that only trusted sources are used, or consider pinning to a specific commit (for example, github:temidayoxyz/deep-browser#<sha>).
Typical Usage¶
When developing or debugging the plugin locally, first pull the source code and build it:
pnpm install
pnpm build
Run the debug command in the Harness repository:
pnpm dsh web --patch D:/Codebase/deep-browser/overlay.yml --no-open
Open the printed URL, expand the right sidebar, and select the Browser tab. Under the Plugins tab in DSH, you can configure the default page width (Fit / 390 / 768) and whether links open in the sidebar by default.
Applicable Scenarios and Limitations¶
- Applicable scenarios: Development or use cases where web page content needs to be closely associated with the conversation context.
- Important limitations: The plugin only utilizes the capabilities of the current Web profile. It does not emulate advanced Chromium features such as zoom, cookie management, caching, highlight annotations, color mode preferences, or Agent-driven behavior. These features require a Desktop-level browser context. In addition, workspace file contents are displayed in the Document Preview panel; this plugin is intended only for live URLs.
The plugin aims to provide a lightweight sidebar browsing experience, suitable for developers who need to quickly compare web pages with conversation content. For more details and the source code, visit the GitHub repository.
