DeepSeek Harness (DSH) is a plugin-centric execution environment. When developing or debugging agents, humans may need to intervene, wait in queues, or perform non-AI collaboration. Traditional approaches are often intrusive or require expensive model calls to handle simple queuing logic.

dsh-carbonclub (Carbon Club) provides a zero-model-call-cost alternative. It is a responsive, resizable drawer embedded in the DSH Web surface, specifically designed to handle waiting-room interactions between humans.

Positioning and Core Capabilities

Carbon Club is a human waiting room that runs on the DSH side. It does not enter the agent’s prompt, memory, session, or conversation records, preserving AI context integrity.

It has the following core capabilities:

  • Seat Management: Provides eight deterministic speaking slots, with a five-minute speaking limit, automatic idle release, cooldown mechanisms, slow mode, and anti-monologue rules.
  • Security and Identity: Uses persistent Ed25519 DSH identities; all room events are signed, with replay protection and deterministic state derivation.
  • Networking Topology: Supports LAN discovery, direct invites, remembered nodes, community bootstrapping, Circuit Relay v2, AutoNAT, and DCUtR.
  • Routing Optimization: Uses small GossipSub client meshes and bounded volunteer routers to avoid building fully connected meshes in large lobbies.
  • Additional Features: Supports content-addressed avatars, compact queue previews, local muting, and signed evidence export.
  • Zero Cost: All Club traffic stays outside the AI context boundary and incurs no model-call costs.

Installation and Activation

The plugin is installed via a release package and requires no build at installation time.

  1. Download the prebuilt release package:
    curl -LO https://github.com/szymonsheng2045/dsh-carbonclub/releases/download/v0.6.8/dsh-human-buffer-0.6.8.tgz
  1. Add it to the DSH configuration profile:
    dsh plugin --profile carbon-club add ./dsh-human-buffer-0.6.8.tgz
The custom profile created by `dsh plugin` includes only the `@deepseek-ai/dsh-base` base package by default and does not include the application layer. If the UI is idle after startup, manually add the Web application layer:
    node -e "const fs=require('fs'),os=require('os'),p=(process.env.DSH_HOME??os.homedir()+'/.dsh')+'/profiles/carbon-club/package.json',m=JSON.parse(fs.readFileSync(p,'utf8')),b=m.dsh.profile.bundles;if(!b.includes('@deepseek-ai/dsh-web-app'))b.splice(1,0,'@deepseek-ai/dsh-web-app');fs.writeFileSync(p,JSON.stringify(m,null,2)+'\n')"
  1. Start the plugin:
    dsh --profile carbon-club

Typical Usage

  • Basic Usage: Start the lobby using the default configuration.
    dsh --profile carbon-club
  • Custom Configuration: Use the development profile.
    dsh --profile carbon-club-dev
  • Connecting to a Community Bootstrap Node: When connecting across networks, you can specify a bootstrap relay node via an environment variable.
    DSH_CARBON_CLUB_BOOTSTRAP='/dns4/relay-051.laozi.art/tcp/443/wss/p2p/12D3KooWABxQrMHAVgbeqiVctkAPBFPSPSqCJi1SC4YRZh1hsMrh' dsh --profile carbon-club

Privacy and Security Notes

  • Visibility: The text in public lobbies is visible to mesh participants.
  • Transport Security: The plugin uses Noise-protected transport hops, but this is not end-to-end confidentiality for public rooms.
  • Relay Observation: Relay operators can observe peer IDs, network addresses, timestamps, and traffic.
  • Session Notes: Optional last-session notes are transmitted only after explicit opt-in.

Summary

dsh-carbonclub provides infrastructure for DeepSeek Harness to manage human interactions and queuing without invoking AI models. If you need to handle human queues or perform model-independent collaboration in a DSH environment, it is a practical choice.
