Introduction

DeepSeek Harness (DSH) adopts a plugin-based architecture that allows developers to build complex services by combining different plugins. In real-world development, a single search source often cannot satisfy all scenarios. Multi-source fallback and unified policy management are common requirements. dsh-subscription-search is designed to solve this problem. It provides a configurable search chain service for DSH, supporting automatic fallback and invocation across multiple search engines.

What Is This

This is a Search-only plugin (dsh-subscription-search@1.3.1) maintained by user shaomingbo. It preserves repository/package identity and uses the DSH Web provider ID subscription-search. Unlike traditional OAuth or credential management plugins, this plugin does not handle OAuth flows, credential storage, subscription usage, model routing, quota UI, or API key entry. These functions are handled by DSH-native or account plugins.

Core Features

The plugin provides the following core capabilities:

  1. Search chain service: Provides the searchChain service and implements the search-chain/v1 protocol.
  2. Default search chain: Built-in default search chain order: ChatGPT → Grok → Ollama → Exa → DeepSeek.
  3. Built-in adapters: Built-in adapters for Exa, DeepSeek, and Ollama. API keys are resolved through DSH credential references.
  4. Dynamic registration: ChatGPT and Grok are optional adapters, dynamically registered by account plugins. The plugin itself can start and search independently.
  5. Chain management: Manages search chain ordering, enable flags, deadlines, fallback mechanisms, cancellation logic, and diagnostic information.

Installation and Enabling

Before installation, ensure that the runtime environment meets the dependency requirements.

npx --yes --ignore-scripts github:shaomingbo/dsh-subscription-search#v1.3.3

This command installs the plugin into the web configuration file. The installation process requires an exact DSH version in the runtime environment: 0.1.2-alpha.3, 0.1.2-rc.1, or 0.1.5-rc.1. After installation is complete, you must manually restart DSH and force-refresh the Web GUI.

Typical Usage

After installation, you can operate the plugin via the CLI:

  1. Check status:
    npx --yes --ignore-scripts github:shaomingbo/dsh-subscription-search#v1.3.3 status
  1. Uninstall the plugin:
    npx --yes --ignore-scripts github:shaomingbo/dsh-subscription-search#v1.3.3 uninstall
  1. Install to a specific Profile:
npx --yes --ignore-scripts github:shaomingbo/dsh-subscription-search#v1.3.3 install --profile web
  1. Local development installation:
If local development is needed, specify the source via an environment variable:
DSH_SUBSCRIPTION_SEARCH_SOURCE="link:$PWD" node ./bin/install.js install --profile web

Use Cases and Notes

  • Version requirement: The exact DSH version (0.1.2-alpha.3, 0.1.2-rc.1, or 0.1.5-rc.1) must be used. Other versions are not compatible.
  • Ollama adapter: The Ollama adapter requires configuring OLLAMA_API_KEY to work; otherwise, that node will report unavailable and be skipped.
  • Optional components: ChatGPT and Grok adapters are not required. If the corresponding account plugins are not installed, the plugin can still run normally.
  • License: The plugin is licensed under the MIT License.

This plugin is suitable for developers who need to build multi-source search strategies. Its design philosophy aligns with the DSH “everything is a plugin” ecosystem. Search settings only manage chain policies and state; go to Accounts & Usage for credential management.
